Lobster shacks, from Maine beaches to Quebec

Lobster shacks, from Maine beaches to Quebec

It's vacation time and time to travel to the U.S. East Coast. Maine is one of the most popular summer destinations for Quebecers. The beaches and the ocean are of course the main attractions. But restaurants also play a role, including Lobster Shacks, and it’s also trying to get a place in Quebec.

In Maine, from Kittery to Portland, through Ogunquit and Old Orchard, it is normal to come across a snack bar on the side of the road. A trailer, a small counter, looks like a cottage. A simple menu, depending on the arrivals!

You obviously have to try the "Lobster Roll", this lobster chair in an hot dog bread. But also try the steam or grilled lobster, crab cake or the traditional French fries and burger.

Thus, these annual trips to the sea have given ideas to many restaurateurs, starting with Cyndi, Alex-Sandra and Sebastian, from la Queue de homard of St-Jean-Port-Joli, a one hour drive from Quebec City. The flavor and freshness come from Îles-de-la-Madeleine and Gaspésie. But it is as if you were on vacation in Maine...

This restaurant inspired from the Shack described above is well beyond providing the "Lobster Roll". The owners and the chef decided to offer a healthy choice with salads, cheeses and meats.

The menu is diverse, from pizza to steak and pasta with olive oil seasoned.

And you, where have you found the same taste of your holiday on the east coast on a plate in Quebec?
