With 25 years of Lac-Beauport, I had heard of the reputation of its Batifol and breakfasts that are talking. However, I wanted to try the new establishment of Beauport evening open for a little over a year in the Hotel Ambassador.
Upon entering, I was immediately seduced by the modern decor of the place. It completely erased the image of his predecessor, Chez Greco, who occupied the premises before him. The walls of wood and contemporary minimalist décor married well to the trendy music.
I appreciated the friendly and fairly quick service. The room was not crowded, probably because we were on a Wednesday night, but the tables were well spaced and some walls also gave privacy, useful when the customer is higher.
Earlier in the week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday), the restaurant offers an attractive promotion: two guest tables for $ 35. It is this choice that we stopped. The menu changes regularly, but a card "Best of" was put in place to taste the best dishes of the past 25 years. It therefore goes pizzas to burgers to more elaborate dishes like lamb shank or a Mediterranean risotto.
Before the meal, the waiter brought us all warm ciabatta bread, enough to put us in a good mood!
In the first act, we were treated to a delicious carrot cream, served but to a much too high. The waiter who failed to prevent us, we singed. My small downside of the evening.
However, I was conquered by my pasta dish that was quite ready to make your weeknight supper. Penne with bacon, chicken, asparagus and Parmesan cheese in a creamy white wine sauce were served to me at a good temperature, but in a very generous portion. Unfortunately, I did not finish my plate, though I have much appreciated.
For dessert, two options open to us: the chocolate mousse or sugar pie. I opted for the latter and I was pleased to see the small portion size. The pie was presented cold and the fruit sauce that accompanied it was hot. I would have preferred the opposite, but that does not stop me revel.
In short, The Bar & Grill Batifol good restaurant that does honor to the reputation of its first branch. It gives a little breath of fresh air in this neighborhood consisting mainly of fast food chains.
