There is already a long time that the possibility of making deliveries by drone is discussed by specialists. Technology companies, working with delivery companies, are ready.
However, the various levels of government are still discussing regulations governing this practice. So, my pizza by drone, when will I have it?
Several restaurateurs follow the file closely. The initial investments would be large but the operating costs associated with drone deliveries would be lower. Cars and mopeds, electric or not, represent a significant expense for restaurants. Not to mention the workforce!
To these monetary arguments is added that of speed. As the crow flies, my pizza can be delivered much faster! The service is thus improved.
An interesting first step was taken by our neighbors to the south a few weeks ago. In the United States, a first delivery by drone has been completed and successfully under government supervision. Our own governments have taken note of it too, observing everything from a distance.
What remains to be determined more precisely is the operation of the devices, its environmental side, the noise generated by the small but powerful engines and the traffic that it will create in the sky.
For example, regulations will have to be revised, which so far only concerned airplanes and helicopters.
Testing involving technology companies, delivery companies, and government agencies takes place virtually every week. The information gathered during these sessions is very useful in determining a framework for the development of a law.
So, my pizza will probably wait another year before heading out on the "road".
