Tokyo: a touch of Japanese authenticity in Quebec
Sometimes things become so familiar that we forget they are there. This is the case of the Tokyo restaurant, located on rue Saint-Jean for almost 40 years, an establishment that I had never noticed until now. What a mistake on my part! Even if I don't frequent the Saint-Jean-Baptiste Quarter every day, I pass there often enough to have my good addresses. This restaurant, nestled at the corner of Saint-Jean and Claire-Fontaine streets, has brought joy to many residents of Quebec without me being aware of its existence.

We really like the decor: the sushi bar, the guests seated around it and the small private rooms for small groups create an authentic and warm atmosphere. The atmosphere of the restaurant truly reflects that of Japan.

We shared and enjoyed everything with pleasure. The kids loved the flavors and textures, and I enjoyed listening to them express their preferences. As for me, although these sushis don't particularly stand out from others I've tasted, they are nonetheless very good. In the end, we especially appreciate the atmosphere of the restaurant, the unique concept and the fact that it is “bring your own wine”, which adds to our experience.

When we decided what we were going to order, we were hesitant between a starter and a dessert. However, as soon as my kids saw that there was mochi on the menu, the decision was quickly made. We were impatiently waiting for this moment. Unfortunately, when we ordered them, we learned that there were no more; all had been sold. It was a bit of a disappointment, but we were offered macaroons as a replacement. This will be for next time!

During our meal, we observed that several people were refused entry because the restaurant was full. So, a piece of advice: remember to book!
