I had often heard Italian chefs on TV repeat that "it's all about the quality and freshness of the products". I admit that I was somewhat skeptical. I found it hard to believe that just a few ingredients with little seasoning could provide an incredible taste experience. And yet ... I finally understood what they meant by that when I sat down at Pizzeria NO.900 in Limoilou.

I was strolling the bustling 3rd Avenue on a sunny Friday night looking for a restaurant. After banging my nose on several full doors, I tried my luck at Pizzeria NO.900 despite the abundance of customers already present. To my delight, the hostess took my reservation and promised to text me as soon as a table was available. I barely had time to cross a few blocks when a text message appeared on my phone. “Your table is ready. »Wow, great! What service!

Operation Charme continued, taking place with courteous and very attentive service, despite the obvious traffic. We never felt rushed or rushed.

Simple and well divided, the menu is on one page. No fuss here, the specialty is Neapolitan pizza and we stick to it. We choose it in red (tomato) or white (olive oil) version. I start my tasting with an Italian beer, the Peroni, just to get in the mood for the boot.

For the starter, my boyfriend and I choose to share a burrata with pistachio pesto. When the plank arrives, it’s spectacular and hugely appetizing. The cream cheese ball is placed on the delicate pesto. We cut it finely and it is ecstasy. On the plate, small cherry tomatoes drizzled with balsamic vinegar and herbs bring a note of freshness. Grilled eggplants and peppers for antipasti are also a perfect accompaniment! But harmony is at its height with the delicious hot breads served on the side. Airy and soft, they are made from pizza dough. Divine!

For the main course, we share a pizza, the organic pancetta from Charlevoix and fig. Again, no disappointment on the horizon. Baked in a pizza oven at 900 ° F, the dough is sublime. The pizza is topped with olive oil, making a change from the tomato sauces that sometimes hide the flavors. As a garnish, fresh goat cheese, fresh figs, arugula and aged balsamic vinegar are shared with the organic pancetta. The picture is perfect. We love!

Although the pizza is very large, the delicate topping does not quite satisfy our hunger. Maybe we would have done better to each order a pizza? However, we are delighted to leave the table on a not too full stomach. And what we appreciate above all is the bill, which like the evening, is very sweet.

Could this be the Dolce Vita?
