Let's say, the place does not look like anything. It is small and the exterior appearance does not give very envy. The hand-painted wooden poster does not necessarily attract the eye and we can quickly pass our way if we do not know the place. I was pretty confident of my choice, I was convinced that it would be good and I did not make any case of the external envelope because I had heard only rave reviews about this little restaurant The rue St-Joseph that I wanted to try for a while. Little restaurant that has just carved a place among my best addresses to suggest to Quebec, nothing less!
Upon arrival, you feel like you're coming in and it's part of the experience. Lucky, we are entitled to a place of choice, right next to the kitchen, totally open. It adds to being able to see the preparation of dishes and it gives water to the mouth. We were not surprised, as we already knew, but the cooks busy themselves in front of the ovens, only the big commercial hood arranged above the two ovens reminds us that we are in a restaurant and not invited to Friends very generous. The party is there, the little brigade looks like a fish in the water and it is reflected in the service. Sympathetic and without flafla, as one likes. In the room, everyone has fun, the atmosphere is relaxed and the decor makes you laugh by its letting go assumed.
The menu is slate, so it changes regularly. We really take the time to fully explain the contents of the card and I salivate before each description ... the choice will be difficult, everything, but really everything looks delicious! I do not deny my penchant for the sea and I go for a northern shrimp entry. Fresh and well fleshed, they are served on a celeriac rawade, red cabbage and cranberries, a brightly colored plate. The man opts for the entry of fresh mozzarella and sea urchins. A beautiful discovery for this tiny seafood that I had never tasted. On the plate of resistance, I continue in the same vein by attacking the scallops of Nova Scotia. Nicely seized, they are tasty. Although I love the taste of scallops, it is never really reversed with this mollusk, because the seasonings are often subtle (and it is the same everywhere). The accompaniment of celery root purée is sublime. I also love vegetables, even if they take me back a few months, because they seem more suitable for winter than on this hot July evening. The small salad of grated fennel and orange still adds freshness, but I find that the marriage of this texture more crisp with the delicacy of the scallop is less successful, although each of their side, they are superbly realized. A simple bite in the plate of my man almost makes me fall to the ground, the side of lamb is really delectable with its tender and juicy braised meat balancing precisely with the crispness of the skin. Impeccable! The portions are generous enough, but you can not leave without tasting desserts. Impossible to resist black and white chocolate brownie as well as goat cheese and strawberry cake. Two perfect delights, although brownie (hot) is actually made for very sweet teeth.
If the experience speaks to you, it is imperative to book, because the place is strongly solicited.
