Greedy and greedy inveterate foodie, I am every year carefully, issuing Heads salivating every time before ready meals, dreaming of the day when the gustatory TV will appear unlikely in the market.
It is hoping to fill a little taste of my fantasies I visited the restaurant La Planque, orchestrated by Guillaume St-Pierre, winner of the second season of the show.
Holed up on the third living Avenue in the Limoilou sector, Planque is definitely a place run in Quebec City. The reason is simple: the quality and freshness of the dishes prepared with remarkable attention. Each item tabled thinks and seems to have been concocted with care.
The menu, simple and refined, full of fresh produce. For entry as for dishes, six choices are offered. I love short menus that are for me a guarantee of quality and freshness. The menu also changes regularly, another good positive. The decor, we wanted to make something rustic with rough wooden planks and exposed electrical son. Personally, I crack least for this atmosphere, but the open kitchen conquered me more.
The map, however, not excited me as much as I would have liked. The dishes pleasantly accurately described by our waitress, had all the delicious air, but nothing really tickled my adventurous spirit.
After a few fresh oysters served with raspberry vinegar and mango puree home, I opted for the chicken into egg. I like that surprise me in the kitchen and I enjoyed the bold mixture of poached egg with homemade pasta, all beautifully presented. As main course, I opted for the quintessential summer dish: salmon from New Brunswick. Attractive and refreshing, I liked the dish. The salmon just before offering unparalleled delicacy. Mussels, lemon mayonnaise and the fennel offered a perfect balance, not to mention the cute and fluffy side brought by the delicious croquettes. Everything pleased me greatly, but I was on familiar ground, my taste buds were rejoiced without surprises with new flavor combinations.
To conclude with a flourish, a tart with dark chocolate along with a caramel ice cream, sandy peanuts filled me.
Crowded by many young guests, the restaurant remains a great address in Quebec. The attention given by staff, the care granted to food, the quality of home products (the restaurant even produces its own sparkling water) and the atmosphere of the open kitchen are the perfect cocktail for a successful evening.
