Coming from the same lineage as L'Affaire est Ketchup, Patente et Machin is a nice restaurant where food from quality rhymes with friendliness. Entering this small room on St. Joseph Street West, we feel welcome, we even feel like arriving at friends. The place is very popular because the address has quickly known since its opening. We understand why, because a place where you can eat high-end dishes prepared with fresh and local products while having an ultra-relaxed atmosphere, it does not run the streets.

Often, in gourmet restaurants, you feel a little stuck, it feels like you have to talk quietly, do not make noise while eating, you are almost afraid to escape something on the pristine floor. Here, none of that! We are friendly, we are happy and it is the party behind the open kitchen.

We also decided to sit at the bar to be close to the action. Judicious choice! The menu is slate and changes constantly. On the other hand, the titles of the dishes leave us perplexed because they provide few indications. Fortunately, we come to our rescue by explaining in detail the menu. Difficult, however, to remember everything without a reminder, because the tirade is long. So we hang a dish that marked us and we order it.

The menu is divided into four sections: Small Machins, Large Machins, Large Patentes and Small Patentes. We have choice! To start the evening, I started on squid and bourgots. In the plate was presented a creamy salad of bourgots and potatoes around which were placed fried squids. I liked the two items separately, but I was not convinced by the mix of the two on the same plate. The salad was very good and very fresh while the hot calamari, although delicious, lacked a bit of crispness for my taste. My companion, he was there for daring, because several offal were presented as input. He chose the hearts and gizzards of ducks in a pepper coulis. The plate was very well prepared, for what I dared to taste! In the main dish, I dipped for cobia, a beautiful white fish with delicate flesh, seared with crispy skin. I loved! The accompaniments were equally successful: wild rice and pan-fried crisp vegetables. Throughout the meal, we also sipped a bottle of delicious organic red wine.

For dessert, my heart literally flinched for the goat cheese cake topped with white wine poached pears. Right in my palette! A beautiful festive evening, in a relaxed and unpretentious atmosphere! We like the small places like that. Next place of the band to try: the Kraken Cru.
