Bistro West Brome: quality at the rendezvous (2nd part – lunch)

We had this second experience at the Bistro following a long night at the Auberge West Brome, located about an hour from Sherbrooke. As described in the first column about our dinner the day before (see Bistro West Brome: quality at the rendezvous (1st part – dinner)), the Bistro is a 4-star restaurant open every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner and whose dishes concocted by chef Ugo-Vincent Mariotti are mainly based on local ingredients.

Upon our arrival on this Monday morning in March, we were greeted by a flood of light streaming in through the row of windows and by the bright smile of our hostess. She led us to our table and immediately offered us a welcome cup of coffee on this chilly morning, as well as a glass of orange juice, both drinks being included with breakfast.

This was followed by a plate of freshly baked pastries, regular croissants and chocolate croissants, accompanied by an exquisite strawberry and rhubarb jam, obviously homemade.

The menu is divided into two parts: the first part for rather sweet appetites and the second for savory appetites. We enjoyed this division of dishes, recognizing each one according to our tastes. Nicolas, having a weakness for salty foods, chose the grilled cheese with mushrooms, with raisin bread, accompanied by apple compote and hash browns. His only disappointment concerned the portion of the plate, which he would have preferred more generous. Julie, whose beak is rather sweet, enjoyed a huge plate of homemade waffles topped with chocolate sauce and a mountain of fresh berries, whipped cream and jams included. Each dish is completed with a delicious fruit salad.

Our hostess, discreet, jovial and efficient, filled the coffee cups throughout the meal, without having to ask her. Our stay at the West Brome Inn ended with this pleasant and delicious breakfast, served in an attentive manner.
