Orange: finally, the restaurants are open!

Orange: finally, the restaurants are open!

Last Monday, all the restaurants located in the orange zone could finally reopen their dining room! A great relief for restaurateurs and a great moment awaited by customers… despite certain constraints! So how did this first week go?
As soon as the government announced the reopening of the dining rooms, some loyal customers called their favorite restaurant to reserve a table each week for the next full month. Many waiters have become friends of regular customers.
And on that famous Monday, people were very happy to take a seat at their favorite table, discover the menu again and be able to rub shoulders with other humans again.
Measures
Yes, this reopening is really good for morale, despite the measures.
Do not forget the instructions to follow for having a meal in a dining room located in the orange zone: reservation required, two adults maximum and their children, proof of residence (only residents of the orange zones are welcome for the moment) , attendance register, face cover obligatory, except when seated at the table, distance between tables, etc.
Workforce
As we have seen above, some restaurants opened their doors on Monday morning to welcome customers. Recall that the government's announcement had been made just days earlier. Thus, other restaurateurs preferred to wait a few more days in order to properly prepare their dining room, place orders and call their employees back.
Others, however, weren't so lucky. Their dining room opening is slowed due to a labor shortage. New employees, sometimes unqualified for the position, have been hired in some places. This new succession must now be trained.
Remember, before the pandemic hit in March 2020, we often spoke here about the labor shortage raging in the restaurant business. COVID didn’t help any of this.
With the anticipated gradual easing of health measures, the scarcity of the workforce will come back in force. This is why different restaurant groups are calling for the return of their industry in the recruitment programs for foreign workers.
