On December 13, the winners of the first edition of PIZZA FEST were honored. The official award ceremony was held at the Kesté restaurant, the overall winner, in all categories, of the PIZZA FEST 2017 with its authentic Margarita.
Many brave, despite the blizzard that blew on the city, decided to come celebrate the pizza. It was in a festive atmosphere that fifty guests applauded the recipients of this fierce competition, whose deliberation was very difficult. The Consul General of Italy Marco Riccardo Rusconi had the honor of officially presenting the three grand prizes as well as the 12 mentions to the winning pizzerias. All winners received a framed certificate. A pizza break will also soon be offered to the three big winners so he can proudly display it in their restaurant.
A beautiful celebration that was also highlighted by the presence of two ambassadors of beer Peroni, came to offer tastings. "This famous Italian beer makes a perfect match with pizza," says Mathieu Fortin, founder of PIZZA FEST. Of course, the guests who moved were also able to sample the winning pizza contest. A second edition in preparation
The first competition has just concluded that the second edition is already in motion. "Next year, the PIZZA FEST will be held over two weeks and we aim to get 75 participating restaurants," says Mr. Fortin. Another good reason to celebrate for pizza lovers is the recent inscription of the art of the Neapolitan pizzaiolo to the world heritage of humanity (UNESCO). A new applause from the PIZZA FEST. "Next year, we will have the pleasure of welcoming Gino Sorbillo, a leading pizza world, as a judge," says Fortin. Mr. Sorbillo will decide the winner among the ten finalists.
PIZZA FEST in the region
The second edition of the PIZZA FEST will take place from September 11 to 24, 2018, but for the impatient, know that the PIZZA FEST will also be held in different municipalities by then. "We want to make 6 small PIZZA FEST by September," says the founder. These celebrations will highlight 5 to 6 restaurants in a municipality. It will also be possible for the participants to discover special pizzas and authentic Italian ingredients.
