Let the one who does not like pizza raise his hand! With the infinite possibilities of combinations of ingredients, this Italian met is one of the most popular dishes on the planet. Convivial and festive, pizza has the power to gather people from all walks of life around a table. It is with this in mind that the very first edition of the Pizza Fest will take place from September 11 to 17, 2017. In Montreal and Quebec City, pizza will be celebrated in all its forms and its creators will be put forward.
Originality and exclusives on the menu
How to share his love of pizza during this week dedicated to it? By visiting the participating pizzerias to discover these hidden treasures that have been carefully selected by the organizers. "We picked up the pizzerias which all had a unique and creative side. We wanted to make room for those who are not always in the limelight, "explains Mathieu Fortin, founder of Pizza Fest. From pizza, he tasted it!
Nearly fifty restaurants will offer unusual creations during this festive week. Participants are therefore invited to visit the different addresses in order to taste exclusive pizzas. Interested customers will also be able to get the official passport of Pizza Fest 2017 for a chance to win a trip for two to Naples, Italy.
Among the multitude of possible variations, some pizzas know how to distinguish themselves by their audacity. This is the case, for example, of pizza au boudin from La Pizz Place Royale in Quebec City. At Chez Kesté in Montreal, the fried pizza is also intriguing. The fascinating pannuzzo of Buon Gusto in Laval is also worth a visit; A thin dough cut in two on the thickness and garnished with bocconcini, fresh tomatoes and pesto. We name only these, but each place has been judiciously chosen for an unusual aspect.
Each restaurateur will do something special to celebrate Pizza Fest. "At Messina in Longuueil, it's the nona that will come to prepare the tomato sauce especially for Pizza Fest," explains Mathieu Fortin. There is something to rejoice!
The aim of the event is to celebrate pizza simply and discover new places and different ways of doing things. "In addition to tasting, we invite people to learn more about everything that goes around making pizzas. Each place has its own fascinating history that will be shared with the public, "says the true pizza enthusiast.
Let the best pizza win!
The competition will also be launched between the restorers. Who will win the honor of the best pizza? Five judges, all chefs and fine connoisseurs of pizzas, will have the heavy task of deciding after having tasted all the creations.
