Historic House Jacquet, one of the tallest buildings of the era of high-Québec and the oldest of Quebec, was built between 1675 and 1676. The land had been granted to François Jacquet November 30, 1674 by the nuns of the convent of the Ursulines of the region. Its thick walls, solid seals, wonderful paneling and cupboards built into the walls are typical of houses built at that time.
The property consists of two buildings, one to the west is the most recent, the construction of one of the back is the French Regime. Several notable figures have been residing in the Jacquet house where the author of the novel "Les Anciens Canadiens" Philippe Aubert de Gaspé, from 1815 to 1824. The myth that General Montcalm has also lived and died in this famous still remains, although it is contradicted by history.
Today, the House Jacquet home, and since 1966, the restaurant Aux Anciens Canadiens internationally recognized for the quality of its cuisine and warm hospitality.
