Alain Labrie studied accounting before studying cuisine. Graduate ITHQ at Fort Prével in 1981, Alain Labrie worked at Carleton Plessisville, Jonquière and Montreal before joining the Auberge Hatley as an assistant at the Auberge Hatley in 1989. He became chief six months later. He spent 17 years as chief executive until a fire destroyed the famous establishment in 2006.
In 2007, he opened with his wife, Joelle Beaupré, La Table du Chef, a housed in a former rectory at the corner of King Ouest Sherbrooke Street and Victoria restaurant.
Alain is the only leader of Quebec to have won more than once La Table d'Or and the Grand Prix de la Gastronomie du Québec. In 2007, Alain Labrie is recognized as one of thirty people who have marked the restoration in Quebec according to the magazine Gourmet Weekend. Alain is renowned for its cuisine taste and flavor.
