The popular show Les Chefs is back tonight (Monday April 18) for an 11th season and we now know the identity of the 13 aspiring chefs who will compete. We will discuss it in a few lines. Also on the menu, we'll talk to you about new breakfast offers from Tim Hortons, study programs offered by McDonald's and the gastronomic spring that's in full swing.

So let's start with the list of 13 candidates who will take part this evening, on ICI Télé, in the always popular reality show Les Chefs!

Andersen Lee (sous-chef at Bouillon Bilk)
Adrian Pastor (midday chef at Arlequin)
Anthony Vien (sous-chef at La Tanière)
Emmy Plante (chef at Maria Maria)
Elliot Beaudoin (chef at the Legend Restaurant)
Amine Laabi (sous-chef at Gentile Westmount)
Brian Thibodeau (Park Sous Chef)
Audrey Sévigny (sous-chef at Edgar Hyperlodge)
Marc Proulx (Cook at Comptoir Moutarde)
Jean-Christophe Beaudin (sous-chef at Foxy)
Marie Lamoureux (chef owner of a catering service)
Jérémy Peake (chef at Chez Lionel)
Philippe Szeto (cook at Tonino)

They were chosen after passing a series of auditions and will now have to fight to get their hands on the scholarship reserved for the winner.

At the animation, we will once again find Élyse Marquis. She will be accompanied by Colombe St-Pierre, who will act as the brigade's mentor. The judges are Normand Laprise, Jean-Luc Boulay and Pasquale Vari. This year, pastry chef Isabelle Deschamps-Plante will join the trio.

Tim Hortons

Let's continue Tim Hortons, which continues to improve its breakfast line by adding two new products for those wishing to opt for a Timatin or a morning wrap with a plant-based patty.
Across the country, it is now possible to order the Veggie Galette Timatin and the Veggie Galette Worker's Morning Wrap, two juicy and tasty products made with Impossible sausage and a 100% Canadian freshly broken egg.

“We are always looking for ways to improve our menu based on feedback from our guests. We knew many of them wanted to be able to order a plant-based Timatin or wrap that's just as delicious as the originals,” said Chef Tallis Voakes, Director of Culinary Innovation at Tim Hortons. Timatins and morning wraps made with plant-based Impossible sausage are delicious new options that will please all guests, especially those who dreamed of those breakfasts with a plant-based patty. »

McDonald's and studies

Fast food chain McDonald's and Athabasca University have joined forces to allow their employees to earn a degree while working.

These employees must first successfully complete McDonald's Management Development Program in order to earn credits in one of these University bachelor's degree programs: Commerce, Administration, Human Resources and Labor Relations, and general studies.
Through Athabasca University's online model, McDonald's employees can take their courses from anywhere, without having to leave their workplaces or other commitments to study.

These credits mean that the number of courses taken is fewer and the time is greatly reduced before obtaining a diploma.

Spring and gastronomy

Spring is the time when nature awakens and everything seems to come back to life. This is also the case for gourmets, who more than ever want to resume their regular outings to the restaurant.

This is also the time chosen by several organizations to highlight local restaurateurs.

This is the case in Quebec, so the Quebec Exquis event will be held from April 22 to May 1. 33 chefs will be paired with local food producers and processors to create special menus at low prices.

A little later in May, from May 11 to 24, it will be the Pasta Fest in 30 restaurants in Montreal. Pasta lovers will be catered for, with a few hand-made fresh pasta dishes on the menu!
