Fast delivery: deposit, plastic and delivery platforms

In this new edition of your fast delivery, we offer you an overview of a new project for the recovery of containers, we will talk about the McDonald's plan for plastic utensils and, finally, we will give an overview of the platforms of delivery.

So let's start with this new project of reusable, sustainable and eco-responsible containers. It was Cindy Vaucher, a citizen of Montreal, who decided to set up the Retournzy solidarity cooperative, because she could no longer order take-out meals and see the phenomenal amount of waste it produced. Thus, it will offer restaurant owners stainless steel containers in multiple formats and will offer cleaning in a delocalized washing station. The customer can therefore request his meal in one of these containers, pay the deposit, return the rinsed container to a participating establishment and collect the deposit. Everything should be in place in January 2022 with, she hopes, about fifteen restaurants participating in the pilot project.

Still in the area of ??the environment, waste and unique packaging, the Canadian portion of the McDonalds fast food chain has announced that it wants to replace plastic utensils with wooden utensils and paper straws by the end of the year. end of the year 2021 across the country. In addition, the packaging will now come from suppliers certifying the renewable and recycled origin of the items. This is an important environmental gesture from a group that serves no less than three million customers every day from coast to coast.

Finally, you may remember that delivery platforms caused a lot of talk at the start of the pandemic while restaurants, unable to accommodate customers in their dining rooms, turned to them to continue their operations. It was mainly the commissions charged to restaurants that made the headlines. Today, politicians around the world have attempted to impose laws limiting these tariffs. The war continues today as these platforms, led by DoorDash and UberEats, challenge these policies in the name of the right to freely negotiate deals with restaurants. How far will it all go?
