La Ronde amusement park is a place that attracts tens of thousands of people each season on Île Sainte-Hélène in Montreal. In fact, most Quebecers love to spend at least one day there each summer to get their dose of thrills! But a day of riding the rides works up an appetite. That's why you should plan your dinner at one of the restaurants near La Ronde at the same time you plan your next ride.

We can help you with this. We have found a list of the best places to enjoy a meal without going too far after a day at Quebec's most popular and iconic amusement park.

Did you know that La Ronde needs 59 hectares of space to spread out its households, that the park was created as part of the 1967 World’s Fair and that Le Monstre is the tallest roller coaster in the world made of wood?

While you must be a certain height to access Le Monstre and other thrill rides like the Boomerang, the Catapult or the Goliath, many other rides are suitable for the whole family. If you have young children, they will also have fun in the section reserved for toddlers.

When you are done with your tour, you will want to go grab a bite. As promised, here are our suggestions for restaurants located near La Ronde.

Bagatelle Bistro

If you have time to stop by the SAQ, grocery store or convenience store after your day at La Ronde and before arriving at Bagatelle Bistro, that would be perfect because you can bring your own wine or beer.

This French brasserie-style restaurant, but with some Mediterranean accents, also offers a terrace, if you want to continue your day outside. On weekends, the brunches offered also draw crowds. A lunch menu is also available on weekdays.

Among the establishment's specialties, we find a few takatis as starters (tuna, salmon or beef) or, as a main course, a black pudding with pepper sauce, a veal flank steak, a duck breast or a filet mignon.

Everything is prepared with fresh products, varying according to the seasons and market availability.

Menthe et couscous

Our next suggestion will take us to North Africa. At Menthe et couscous, as its name suggests, we prepare excellent couscous. Here too, you can bring your own wine or beer. The oriental decor quickly puts us in the mood and it quickly becomes festive during the dinner-show evenings.

But be careful, you must book before arriving! A delivery service is also available.

Among the North African specialties, we find chicken tagines (marinated lemon, chicken cubes in sauce, vegetables and green olives), lamb (apricots, lamb cubes in sauce, vegetables and prunes) or the veggie option with vegetables (apricots, carrots, mushrooms, zucchini, green beans, turnip, potatoes and prunes).

There are also couscous, of course, including the Royal (lamb shank, merguez, slice of white chicken meat, couscous, vegetables, chickpeas and grapes) or the Baheya (couscous, premium spices, dried fruits, vegetables, nuts, chickpeas and grapes).

Finally, the Mediterranean plate has everything to charm you: a kefta skewer, a chicken skewer and two merguez sausages.

Salumi Vino

Located in the heart of Old Montreal, Salumi Vino offers you a rustic experience with these classic Italian dishes, whose recipes have been passed down from generation to generation, and a generous wine list.

Among the starters, you will find the Fiori di Zucchini (zucchini flowers stuffed with parmesan and mozzarella with a tomato and parmesan sauce), the Ceviche (four scallops marinated with a ginger and sesame vinaigrette, with seaweed) or the Burrata (a soft and creamy cheese imported from Italy with a basil vinaigrette).

For the main course, you have the choice between pasta, including Cavatelli con Caciocavallo Affumicato (homemade pasta, tomato and basil sauce with smoked Caciocavallo soft cheese) or Ravioli con Manzo (homemade ravioli stuffed with braised beef in a creamy mushroom sauce), meat, including Pollo Toscana (chicken breast marinated with mushrooms, spinach and sun-dried tomatoes in a creamy sauce served with vegetables) and finally fish, for example Insalata di Tonno (grilled tuna steak on a bed of spinach and with a sesame sauce). If you fell in love with the sauces or pasta, know that they sell individual portions on site that you can take home

Pub BreWskey

Welcome to the BreWskey craft brewery! This place was born thanks to three friends passionate about food, beer and whisky in 2015. You will find here homemade beers, but also a large selection of whiskeys and cocktails, which will allow you to relax while looking at the pub menu. In total, there are 20 choices of beers on tap, all brewed on site.

The menu is very traditional pub: fries, sandwiches, burgers, wings, nachos, etc.

Among the burger choices, we note the inviting smash burger, including the triple meat with cheddar, lettuce, pickles, smoked mayo and brioche bread.

A few poutines are also on the menu, among which, in addition to tasting their homemade fries and their unique beer sauce, you can add smoked meat, smoked bacon, smoked chicken or pulled pork as an extra.

To continue enjoying the good weather, ask for a space on their terrace.

L’Oeufrier

If you want to eat well before starting the rides, you will like to have lunch at l’Oeufrier to discover quality meals and generous portions. The place is small, warm and friendly.

Among the 150 choices on the menu, there are of course the classics eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausages, French toast, Benedictines, omelettes, etc.

But there are also breakfast poutines, including the Maria Emilia (chorizo, peppers, onions and goat cheese) and the Printemps Érable (bacon, ham and pure maple syrup).

The children’s menu is just as distinguished.

Péché matinal

Also a restaurant specializing in breakfast and dinner, Péché matinal has the most eloquent name on our list! Their mission is quite simple, in fact, to offer a culinary experience from the start of the day, in a vibrant atmosphere and an inspiring space.

Among the amazing offerings, the grilled cheese sandwiches are a cut above anything you can make at home: with pears (spiced poached pears with brie cheese and bacon on a hazelnut-raisin loaf), ham (pulled ham, caramelized onions, a blend of cheddar and Oka cheeses on a white loaf) or vegetables (seasonal roasted vegetables, lemon zest goat cheese, cheese curds and squash purée on a white loaf).

But we have a soft spot for the breakfast burger which is made with a venison sausage patty with apple, bacon, Emmental cheese, pickled onions, tomato, homemade ranch dressing and a sunny-side-up egg. All served in an artisanal brioche bun.

Each dish comes with potatoes that you can turn into a mini poutine for a small additional fee.

The baked beans with foie gras are also on the list of things to try during your visit!
