Car racing fans wait for this moment every year: the best Formula 1 drivers are in Montreal for the Canadian Grand Prix at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve from June 6 to 9, 2024. This June weekend attracts a record crowd to the Parc Jean-Drapeau, including tourists from all over the world.

The traffic of course spills over into the streets of the city center, inside the restaurants and on the terraces, and very close to the actual site of the F1 race and Île Sainte-Hélène.

Leave it to us to suggest the best places to eat and celebrate so you don't miss any of the action and catch Formula 1 fever!

These are all the restaurants in Montreal, in addition to merchants and hoteliers, who want to take advantage of this monster crowd and these fans who come to party. They therefore prepared festivities of all kinds, such as private parties, surprise visits from drivers, outdoor music shows and special menus prepared only for the Montreal Grand Prix weekend.

Crescent Street

Among other things, Crescent Street is transformed into a human tide with several hundred thousand spectators expected during the four days of festivities and there is something for everyone: shows, racing simulators and car exhibitions.

Here are our restaurant suggestions if you're at the Crescent Street Canadian Grand Prix Festival:

K2+ Bistro

Located in the heart of the most popular event venue after the race itself, K2+ Bistro offers tasty sushi among a refined choice. The options offered will suit both sushi novices and experts in this type of Asian restaurant.

Did we mention that it’s a buffet-style Asian restaurant (with the difference that everything is prepared individually). You therefore have the advantage of being able to eat as much as you want, for the same price!

But it's not just sushi. Also think about skewers, dumplings, noodles and other classics of Japanese cuisine in addition to a selection of desserts.

Wienstein & Gavinos

Wiensetin & Gavinos, or W&G to regulars, has three floors, two terraces and a huge four-sided bar on Crescent Street, just a stone's throw from the big Grand Prix festivities. The usual rustic atmosphere is given a new lease of life as race fans promise to invade the place from June 6 to 9, 2024.

Of course, the Italian origin greatly influences the flavors and the cuisine respects traditions in every way. Freshness is also there, as evidenced by the homemade pasta made every day. The pizza menu options are perfectly cooked in a brick oven, yes, like the ones we find in Italy.

On site, try the authentic Margherita pizza (tomato sauce, basil and mozzarella) or the Fiorentina (tomato sauce, spinach, garlic, egg, mozzarella, olive oil, dried tomatoes and ricotta).

We also leave you with the list of fresh pastas available: capelli d’Angelo, spaghetti, linguine, fettuccine, papardelle, farfalle, penne rigati, tortelloni or gnocchi.

Trattoria Trestevere

Another Italian restaurant is hiding on Crescent Street, ready to do anything to help you celebrate this Grand Prix weekend. Maybe a pilot will have a bite at the same time as you?

For more than 50 years, the establishment's chefs have had only one mission: to help guests savor the authenticity of traditional Italian recipes and the innovation of today's culinary techniques.

Among others, veal marsala, gnocchi cream or gnocchi with rosé sauce, shrimp marinara or Gigi tortellini.

De la Commune Street

The traders on Rue de la Commune also offer visitors and race fans several things to do during the Grand Prix weekend. Above all, restaurants in the sector come together to showcase the talents of Quebec chefs in an enchanting setting directly on the waterfront, at the port of Old Montreal.

Among other things, discover the menu specially designed by these two restaurants:

SeaSalt

This brasserie, which is described as elegant, obviously serves seafood and fish according to recipes from Latin America and the Mediterranean. At the start of June, with the Grand Prix festivities in full swing, you will be happy to have a special place on their terrace.

Among seafood, try their ceviche, shellfish and shellfish recipe. A brasserie menu that does not go unnoticed.

Don't worry, meat lovers can enjoy a burger, a steak and fries or a grilled chicken supreme.

La Catrina

A Mexican restaurant in the heart of the Old Port will satisfy visitors' appetites. A choice from the menu of cocktails, beers, wines and spirits is ideal from the outset.

To accompany it all, why not a plate of guacamole prepared in front of you at your table and served with homemade tortilla chips.

You then have a choice of seafood products, tacos and certain chef specialties: rib steak or land and sea tacos.

In addition to their branch in the Old Port, we also find another in Mile-End.

Near the Formula 1 Grand Prix

Other restaurants also located near the venue of the Formula 1 race have worked hard to be ready to receive a clientele ready for anything:

Pavillon 67 Buffet (Montreal Casino)

Located directly on the site of the Montreal Formula 1 Grand Prix, very close to Parc Jean-Drapeau on Sainte-Hélène Island, Pavillon 67 is the Montreal Casino's all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant.

The type of food offered at this buffet is more gourmet than you might expect from any other all you can eat buffet. Among other things, the meat is prepared in front of you and according to your taste.

Dessert lovers will be able to taste all the creativity of the pastry chefs with gourmet bites and modest portions made on purpose.

Keep an eye on the opening hours of the restaurant, which is located on the third floor of the Casino. Reservations are strongly recommended. It is possible to have dinner from Thursday to Sunday or brunch between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Maggie Oakes

The Maggie Oakes restaurant reveals its cozy atmosphere and unrivaled elegance on Place Jacques-Cartier. Here, it's the place for grills, but vegetarians also find what they're looking for.

Concerning the meats, which are dry-aged directly on site, different cuts are possible. For example, how about a tomahawk, this bone-in sirloin steak that looks impressive on the plate?! Or the porterhouse, possibly the best piece of beef to taste!?

Their terrace is also open at the moment. In case of rain, don't panic, the terrace is covered and even heated if the temperature cools down.

So, despite all these choices, if you spend the four days of the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Montreal (from June 6 to 9, 2024, remember), you will have plenty of time and choice to taste a little bit of everything!

Bon appetit and happy racing!
