The most unifying event in the east of the province is undoubtedly the Quebec Summer Festival. This celebrated its first edition in 1968 and, even today, it still thrills music lovers! Of course, music fans are excited by the programming, but they are also excited because they have the chance to stop for a bite before the shows, especially in the restaurants located near the Festival d'été de Quebec.

This year, the FEQ takes place over 11 consecutive days, from July 4 to 14. You will be able to see popular artists from all over the world or local stars. Provided, of course, that you have managed to get your hands on tickets! More than 90,000 people can attend the biggest parties on the Plains of Abraham, but tickets sell out quickly!

This year, note the presence of big stars such as 50 Cent, Offspring, Karkwa, Post Malone and Mötley Crue. In total, the country's largest outdoor festival schedules 150 shows also featuring artists with enormous potential.

Obviously, before going to have fun listening to the notes of your favorite artist, it makes perfect sense to start things off with a good meal at a restaurant. And the Quebec restaurants are impatiently awaiting these 11 days of festivities and are ready to welcome you in a very festive spirit.

Here are our suggestions to get your evening off to a good start at the Quebec Summer Festival.

The Hobbit

For our first suggestion, we suggest a stop at Le Hobbit restaurant. You will feel at home with this warm and pleasant atmosphere. Well located in a stone house in the heart of the St-Jean district, this restaurant offers breakfast, lunch and dinner.

For your early evening visit, you will have the choice between fish, seafood, tartare and grills.

Also, sweetbread popcorn (with celeriac puree, white walnut cream sauce and marinated fiddleheads) is available, as is the family boudin recipe.

Currently, Quebec asparagus has pride of place on the menu.

Aux Deux Violons

For this second proposition, we stop at Aux Deux Violons, a restaurant serving Moroccan and North African dishes. Of course, lovers of couscous and tagines will be happy to set foot there.

The dishes are all inspired by Mediterranean cuisine and are authentically prepared. At the table d'hôte, you have the possibility to select one of the two starters offered and one of the five choices of main dishes among the chicken skewer, the chicken and almond pastilla, the Berber tagine with lamb shank , the chef's grilled dishes (chop, merguez, kofta and chicken breast) or royal couscous.

Menus for children and for groups are also available to please everyone.

Metropolitan Eddie

To have a large choice of quality sushi, we suggest Metropolitain Eddie. This Sushi bar is now 25 years old and is still well located in Quebec with an offering of fresh and local products.

With all this experience, the restaurant has developed its own specialties. For example, pieces of grilled salmon with the skin in a teriyaki sesame sauce, his trilogy of scallops with lime and pepper in tempura and flambés or the chef's maki with spicy salmon fried in tempura with toyota sauce.

For the more robust, poké bowls served with rice and vegetables accompany fish such as salmon, tobiko, scallops, Matane shrimp and octopus.

Les Délices Tandoori

Take advantage of your presence in Quebec to visit the Indian restaurant Délices Tandoori, according to the “bring your own wine” concept. You will find a typical menu of Indian cuisine in a suitable decor.

Among the classics offered, choose from the chicken dishes. You will find several options: pineapple, butter, coconut or mango.

The table d’hôte can be shared between two, three or four people and several varieties are available. Vegetarian versions are also available.

A section is obviously dedicated to Tandoori (chicken, shrimp, fish or lamb.

Momento

This is one of the essential gourmet restaurants in Quebec City. The Momento ristorante is purely Italian, its cuisine focusing on the traditions of the south of this country.

For the more daring, Momento also offers more advanced dishes for a heightened taste experience. Among the choices, always the essential pasta, pizza and seafood in addition to the vegetarian options.

For example the veal escalope with prosciutto, friulano, Marsala sauce and pesto linguini or the veal liver paillarde with Marsala sauce, roasted cippolini and angel hair pasta with tomatoes or the veal osso-Bucco with tomato sauce and orange and buttered linguine.

Cochon Dingue

The last suggestion we have for you is one of the most famous restaurants in Quebec. Le Cochon Dingue, which is at the origin of the Restos Plaisirs Group, was created in the 1970s and was bought for the current owners in 1979. Since then, other branches have emerged in Quebec, but it is The base is still in the Champlain district.

The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, offers a children's menu and a gluten-free version.

As a table d'hôte, served from 5 p.m. only, opt for the shellfish bisque starter (with orange and pastis flavors), steak and fries as a main course (steak topped with Dingue or pepper sauce or mushrooms or mustard or Bordelaise and served with fries and green salad) and the Dingue royal cake. All for an affordable price offered under $40.

On the menu, you will find other specialties such as onion soup and Boréale rousse beer, duck confit salad, the Cochon bourgeois burger, other grills, seafood and pasta.
