The Valleyfield Hydroplane Regattas are known throughout North America and everyone converges on the competition site every summer to watch races on the water and attend outdoor shows. The activity lends itself well to outings with friends and it is therefore ideal to start things off by going to eat at a restaurant.

There are several restaurants near the Régates de Valleyfield competition site. With so many choices, how do you decide? Let us present some suggestions that may help you make a decision!

Those who think that the Regattas are only hydroplane races are wrong. The activities on the water last only three days, while there are a total of six evenings of festive programming.

It all begins on July 5 and 6 with shows by Ludovick Bourgeois, Ludo Lacoste, Carl Müren and Domeno. Shows then resume on Thursday, July 11 as Brittany Kennell, the Coco Country Band and Khaos will take the stage.

Race fans will have to wait until Friday morning before seeing a first hydroplane race. These end at 4:30 p.m. and the shows then begin. The schedule is exactly the same on Saturday and Sunday.

During the last weekend of festivities, Jay Scott, Souldia, Volume 10 and Les Trois Accords will perform.

Here are the restaurants in Valleyfield that are worth a detour before spending the evening at the Régates!

Resto Pub McBroue

What better way to start an evening at the Regatta than to spend it on a large terrace located on the water's edge from where we can observe the magnificent boats? This is what Resto Pub McBroue offers us.

In addition, the establishment is located in a century-old building which promises us a festive and relaxed atmosphere. The pub kitchen is also there to help with the atmosphere!

We suggest you quickly take a seat on the terrace and start with a good imported beer. Then choose from starters, such as fried pickles, garlic snails, bruschetta or onion soup.

As a main meal, you can't miss the specialty burgers, including the McBroue (an Angus beef patty, Swiss cheese, bacon, tomatoes, onions, lettuce and Meaux mayonnaise), the Merguez (a merguez sausage patty, coleslaw, brie and spicy mayonnaise), the Végé (a Beyond Meat patty, cucumbers, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and pesto mayonnaise) or the Supreme (an Angus beef patty, smoked meat, Swiss cheese, pickles, coleslaw and Dijon sauce).

O’Sim 21

This Irish pub is the perfect place to enjoy one of their excellent cocktails, grab a bite, listen to the house band play their best music and chat with friends.

You will immediately recognize the plate of fish n' chips, the Irish stew which is served in a loaf of bread, the hamburger steak, the gammon (which is a smoked pork chop) and also the burgers. There are four choices of burgers, including one with brie and caramelized onions.

An Irish hot dog is also offered as well as several varieties of poutine.

Le Salaberry

The Salaberry rotisserie pizzeria is the perfect family restaurant to start an evening of shows at the Régates.

In service since 1964, the menu is most authentic. In addition to offering roast chicken and pizzas, Salaberry is the undisputed king of submarines in the region.

Several specials are offered every evening. Ask your waitress!

Restaurant Antonio

For over 40 years now, Antonio has been passionate about serving his customers with fresh, quality food. The menu options are Italian-inspired: pizza, submarine, pasta, veal escalopes, etc.

Note the special pizzas Pizza-Ghetti (a fully dressed pizza, Calzone style with spaghetti meat sauce) and Pizza-Gatoni (a fully dressed pizza, Calzone style with rigatoni meat sauce).

Among the pasta dishes, you will have the choice between spaghetti, rigatoni, lasagna, ravioli and cannelloni.

If you want to order a takeaway dish, be aware that there are often promotions on this menu.

Bistro 45

Why not opt ??for a traditional Italian bistro this evening? This is what Bistro 45 offers you, but in a reinvented way.

Polpettes, fried pickles, beef carpaccion, arancini or tartare as a starter...

Without forgetting the pasta (pappardelle, tortellini, rotolo, linguini) and the classic veal parmigiana, beef cheek and fish.

DEZ Taverne Urbaine

Finally, the DEZ Urban Tavern promises you something different but delicious. There is a wide choice of dishes that will satisfy all tastes.
