One of the most beautiful and relaxing destinations in the Lower Laurentians is undoubtedly the beach at Oka National Park. Like most people in the surrounding area, and even in the nearby regions, you will love to lounge on the soft sand and dip your toes, and even more, in the Lac des Deux-Montagnes. Of course, a day like this, under the warm rays of the sun, ends directly at the restaurant, where good food and refreshing drinks await you.
We have found for you the best restaurants located near Oka National Park beach, which we have listed below.
There are many things to do at Oka National Park, which is one of Quebec’s SEPAQ parks. In addition to relaxing on the beach, you can go hiking and discover the history, fauna and flora of the area. Don't forget to stop by the Calvaire d'Oka, to discover a breathtaking view.
Cycling enthusiasts will also want to cycle around the park, a route of about 10 km. The Sommet trail, 6.7 km long, is reserved for experienced mountain bikers.
It is also possible to rent a kayak, a paddle board and a pedal boat. It is the ideal way to enjoy the body of water without getting wet.
Aquazilla, a brand new inflatable water course installed near the beach. The park also offers picnic tables and several charcoal barbecues for a perfect day.
You can also take advantage of the accommodation available on site to spend a few nights in this magnificent park. It is possible to camp, rent a compact chalet or reserve a traditional or star-shaped ready-to-camp space.
No matter what your choice of activities is during the day, you will want to end it all in style with a good meal just minutes from Oka National Park. This is where our expertise begins!
Aldente
The Aldente restaurant awaits you throughout the summer, from dinner time until early evening.
This Italian steakhouse offers unpretentious home cooking, which fulfills the goal of having a good time with your loved ones. A few beers from local microbreweries should also help you.
You can enjoy homemade pizzas cooked over a wood fire, prepared with local ingredients only.
Also available, a hot dog with wild boar sausage from the local Bois Noirs farm and a burger with double beef meatballs, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes and double cheese.
Shand Thai
In the heart of Oka, you can eat traditional Thai and Cambodian dishes, in the most authentic tradition of these Asian countries. The restaurant is also advantageously well located, on the edge of Lac des Deux-Montagnes and facing the Marina.
In addition, a magnificent terrace highlights this view. Inside, dining rooms have been meticulously decorated, once again, in the purest Asian tradition.
It is possible to choose from the à la carte menu or the table d'hôte, in addition to accompanying it all with a bottle from their wine list.
You will find chicken, beef, seafood (shrimp, scallops or squid), rice (fried chicken, steamed jasmine, Shand Thai with rice, chicken, shrimp, egg and vegetables) and noodles (vegetables and beef).
Sacré Bistro de l’Abbaye d’Oka
Possibly the most beautiful and inspiring visit you can make in the region is at the Sacré Bistro de l’Abbaye d’Oka. The restaurant is obviously located directly within the grounds of the historic Oka Abbey.
Due to this location and the decor of the place, the bistro of course combines a very unique atmosphere.
As for the menu, you will discover modern flavors that blend with many regional and local products. The gourmet dishes are inspired by the monks who lived there and who have always been passionate about agriculture and the products of the land.
As a starter, discover the beetroot and goat cheese dish (red and golden beets, goat cheese, Niçoise lettuce, roasted Grenoble cheese, fried onions and yuzu vinaigrette) and as a main course, opt for the braised beef scoter (Burgundy garnish, seasonal vegetables and mashed potatoes with cheddar cheese).
But be careful, each week, the chef and his team could have surprises in store for you that are not normally on the menu!
Resto de La Traverse
This family restaurant, which also defines itself as a sports bar, offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. You have to go there for the view of Lac des Deux-Montagnes from the terrace.
With the new administration in place since 2021, the menu is more diverse than ever, as we can see with the Club sandwich de la Traverse (with a chicken breast marinated in Jack Daniel’s, cooked in the smoker with roasted peppers, bacon and smoked mayo).
On the menu, you can also choose other sandwiches, such as wraps or submarines, burgers (regular, with cheese or pulled pork) or ribs.
You can accompany it all with a choice of draft or bottled beers, wine, cocktails or sangria.
La Pomponnette (takeout only)
We have chosen to add the Pomponnette restaurant to this list even though it is strictly open for takeout orders. But the quality of the cuisine is well worth the sacrifice!
Open from Thursday to Sunday, in the evening, La Pomponnette awaits you with its three-course table d'hôte menu that includes the following choices for starters: a cream of corn, basil and marinated peppers or a green salad, cucumber, herbs and herb buttermilk.
As a main course, you must choose from the cod with beurre blanc (kale, black rice and carrot), the Asian beef tartare (grilled broccoli salad, cracker) or the homemade cavatelli (pancetta, peas, parmesan and basil).
Finally, the dessert of the day will be offered to complete your meal.
