Vegetarian and vegan restaurants for all tastes

Vegetarian and vegan restaurants for all tastes

Have you already think of the New Year's resolutions? If so, you may want to change any of your habits, for example by reducing or eliminating your consumption of meat. If you are not convinced, there are vegetarian or vegan restaurants to inspire your next income.

If you live outside Montreal, it is possible to find such restaurants. In Granby, there Bonne Bouffe, founded in 2010 by Sophie Michaud. Since then, this vegan restaurant is under the ownership of Virginie Fortin, who has a love for food, but especially healthy eating. A little further on, Shebrooke, is the coffee The Singing Goat, also based in 2010 by Jackie Hall. Finally, since 1 August 2013, Quebec city dwellers can relax at Prana Holistic Center Ôm. "This is not just a vegan restaurant, says the owner, Nancy Bilodeau. This is yoga, meditation, detox programs, and a health store. My motivation is to bring health to people. »

For Ms. Bilodeau, health is actually the main argument to convince people to try to eat vegetarian or vegan. For example, she mentioned a strong correlation between meat consumption and the risk of cancer, an argument that is also found in the 10 health reasons to become vegan Vegetarian Association of Montreal. "It's really a health issue, bring food that is delicious for people to show them that eating well, it's nice, and give them the tools they need to reclaim their bodies, their health, their well-being, "says Bilodeau.

The pleasure of eating is also mentioned by Ms. Fortin: "This is to convince [Buyer] to taste. In fact, it is to convince him that it can be good and it's not necessarily saying it's vegan. "As for Ms. Hall, it is more a question of ethics:" We must be aware of what you eat and if you eat things like animals who are abused, it is not a good thing. »

Once we are convinced to try to eat vegetarian or vegan, where to start? "For someone who has never tried it, they are recommended Divine Bol, offers Ms. Bilodeau. It's a pretty easy choice. It is with brown rice, a spicy, full of vegetables, sprouts, sprouts, and the flavors are enhanced. "It is interesting to note that the bistro of Ôm Prana favors a live food: in fact, 80% of their menu consists of raw foods.

The side of Good Food, their specialty is found in sandwiches. "To someone who has never eaten, we will offer him something sweet, kind Veggie Pot Pie or something more common," says Fortin. The restaurant also offers take-out, like a bowl of chili or Indian curry bowl.

As for Ms. Hall, the latter having difficulty in recommending a dish, since it is primarily of interest to the client. For example, on a weekly menu, the customer may have a choice of three colors chili or a Hawaiian raw pizza.

Finally, when we develop an appetite for vegetarian or vegan, is it easier or more difficult to cook? "It may be a little more preparation, but it is not more difficult," reassures Mrs. Hall. An opinion with which Ms. Bilodeau agrees: "It's not easier or harder, it's different. Initially, people find it more difficult because they are not accustomed to the ingredients, but otherwise it's just different. "Ms. Fortin recognizes that once we know the conversions, for example by replacing an egg with ground flax seeds, cooking vegetarian or vegan is easy enough.

To conclude, both to reduce our consumption of meat or to adopt new habits of life, it becomes more practical to apply when multiple options are available to us. To you to find the ones that suit you!
