Typically Spanish concept, tapas burst into our region a few years ago. And this, for the great pleasure of our taste buds. These sharing-oriented restaurants are popular and we can see why! And that's exactly what you find at Tapas & Liège, which has established its quarters on the charming rue Maguire in Quebec. Rather than ordering their own dish and having an individual experience, we share the moment together. And we go whenever we want. No loss! However, we are advised to order the same number of dishes as people at a time, otherwise, we will finish them quickly and we will wait a little too long for the next service.

Present with my gourmet accomplice, so we ordered two dishes at the same time under the advice of our waitress. Here, everything is precut into bite-size pieces to facilitate sharing.

Octopus and tacos
We started the ball rolling with the octopus al pastor and the fish tacos. Two great classics of the place! I had never eaten such a tender octopus. No wonder, since it is marinated for a long time and cooked sous-vide before being grilled. A delight! Octopus is always on the menu, but its garnish changes occasionally. During our visit, it was stuffed with bacon and leeks! A very delicious marriage. Just like the herb bread that came with it. The fish tacos were also tasty. With tacos made on the spot, crispy fish and a fresh garnish of red cabbage and cilantro, it felt like you were on the beach.

Main course
We then continued with a more substantial dish, a sliced ??rack of lamb, placed on a puree of root vegetables and cipolinis onions. Tell you how tender the meat was! And the sauce; a rosemary gravy! Impeccable!

As our hunger began to be satisfied, we only ordered arancini as a side with this service, not as a main course. Certain little extras are thus offered to satisfy appetites: naan bread, foie gras, arancini, etc. They allow you to enhance the dishes to share. When it comes to wine, it's joy! The menu is splendid. We don't call ourselves Tapas & Liège for nothing.

And the evening wouldn't have been the same without the final note: the famous churros served with a chocolate sauce with Espelette pepper.

Cozy decor
The cozy decor also greatly contributed to the beauty of the evening. I like the fact that there is consistency between the name of the establishment, its decor and its menu. The large wall made of cork stoppers and the wine bottles hanging from the ceiling call out to the "wine" side of the place. As was the view of the impressive cellar from the splendid bar where we had settled. I also particularly loved the open kitchen which offers a beautiful show and allows you to enjoy the content of our dishes even more.

Honestly, a memorable evening in every way.
