Founded in 1986 by André Boivin, Le Subtil already had three sandwich shops in the Quebec City region. Recently, I had the pleasure of discovering their brand new Beauport location.
What's special about this location? It's the first to be entirely run by the second generation of the Boivin family, twin sisters Laurie and Mélanie Boivin. This fourth location also marks the beginning of an ambitious expansion phase in the Quebec City region and on the South Shore.
Fast and Efficient Service
Le Subtil's well-known half-service concept is still being carried over here. After ordering at the counter, you sit down and wait for your meal to be brought to you. I like this system, which allows you to be served quickly while maintaining a certain level of comfort.
Much more than sandwiches
While Le Subtil is renowned for its sandwiches, they also offer a wide variety of gourmet salads and pizzas for lunch. For my part, I mostly tried the brunches with my partner.
A bold and delicious brunch
On a menu, I always try to spot the unusual dish. Here, I quickly noticed the French toast with apples, caramel, and cheese gratin with fruit. Impossible to resist! And what a great idea! I loved the boldness of the cheese gratin on the French toast, and the candied apples were absolutely delicious. The caramel sauce, served on the side, added a perfect gourmet touch. The surprise: the generous bowl of fruit. An A+!
My partner opted for the healthy plate, consisting of two eggs, cottage cheese, veggie pâté, a bowl of fruit, toast, and apple butter. He enjoyed his meal just as much. His only constructive comment: he would have liked a larger piece of veggie pâté.
A modern and welcoming decor
I was also impressed by the clean and contemporary decor. The place is both a restaurant and a space where you can sit down and work while sipping a coffee. I'll definitely be back with my laptop!
Homemade products to take home
Thanks to Saint-Augustin's central kitchen, everything is homemade, guaranteeing the quality of the ingredients. As a bonus, you can take home some of the Les Favoris products: caramel, vinaigrette, granola, etc. A refrigerated counter also offers small prepared meals to go.
Verdict: A place to add to your diary
e Subtil Beauport now has a special place among my favorite places. A wonderful discovery that I can't wait to revisit!
