The call of the carnivore: Charbon Steakhouse

Meat and more meat! The assumed carnivores will be in heaven Charcoal Steakhouse, located in even the Gare du Palais in Quebec City.

Personally, I do not often frequent the station, just the fact of entering this unusual place adds something enigmatic when I left. In surveying the hall, empty at that hour, I had the feeling of being immersed in a film production period. Y really was there a hidden restaurant here? It seemed hidden or secret. But soon, I undeceived, Coal steakhouse is a well-known address, and the room was packed on this Saturday night.

The meat lovers will feel like a fish in water on entering the premises, because the flesh is put to the forefront even in decoration. The red blood predominates the benches while giving them a hand wrapping and chic. Leather, omnipresent even in the illusion projected by the large chandeliers, also awakens predator. The huge bar adds a festive side to the room while evoking the upscale atmosphere that marked the station. The grand staircase panache as the grill brought to light. The client confessed meat lover can attend the show of cooking coal throughout the evening.

I like meat, but fish and seafood have always occupied the first place in my preference scale. Despite an abundant supply of meat products of all sizes and all cuts, I opted for the salmon steak from the Bay of Fundy. "Sacrilege! "Some will say. Usually I always leans to the specialty of the house and here, although it was quite obvious, I felt more "surfing" that "turf" in this snowy evening. Nevertheless, my pink-fleshed fish fillet does me little disappointed. Grilled on coal as its four-legged companions, my sailor delight could soak the delicate maple flavors. Babies bok choy, oyster mushrooms and asparagus that accompanied him were also carefully cooked and well seasoned. Rice, which is usually discreet, here was very fragrant and lemony wish. So it was a nice light dish that reflected perfectly the soul of the place.

As several guests at the table, however, the service had some hiccups. Courteous but distant, we made some omissions. There has also been some trouble with the bill that had to be taken due to several errors that had crept.

Of course Coal prices are quite high, but I have no problem paying the fair price when quality follows. Which is the case here.
