Very disappointing experience. The server made multiple mistakes with our order and then simply split the total bill evenly among us, even though we all ordered different items. I ended up paying for food I didn’t even eat, which is unacceptable. We were also pressured to tip 15–20% despite the poor service. The food was not good either — the Beef Wellington was soft and lacked texture, the salmon was overly greasy, and even the salad felt heavy. Overpriced and poorly managed. Would not recommend.

Wow, what an experience in Old Montreal. Our server Mary was stellar, food was spectacular and you can not beat the atmosphere. We took our time and enjoyed every minute starting with wedge salad and ending with Irish coffee made table side. Generally portions. It’s pricey but well worth the experience. This is a good reason why Montreal is so wonderful.

Really enjoyed this place. The steak was juicy and cooked just right, and the lobster was super fresh. Nice vibe and great food overall. A perfect place for a special day.

Amazing time at a classic steakhouse. Katherine, was everything you want in a server. Even asked for a “very chill” flambé service for dessert and she just crushed it. While also dealing with a very large group of diners who clearly were on something…poor thing! Anyways, steak was awesome. Cream spinach was a must, along with the cheesecake and flambé coffee to top off the evening. Highly recommend

Our meal was delicious and prepared to perfection. The crispy fries were amazing.. Our server Catherine was attentive and exuberant. She was knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the restaurant. Our water glasses were refilled promptly albeit with quite a bit of spillage. ( ignore the half eaten pickle in the photo ) note - the bathrooms are downstairs or upstairs so this may be a problem for those with mobility issues and weak bladders. Overall - A great experience

Great food, poor service. The food was as good as I remembered from the last time I ate here many moons ago. The service was like being at a dinner where the plates were quite literally tossed right on the table in front of us. We went on a (rainy) Sunday night, for an earlier seating, so it was not busy, yet service felt rushed and like they needed to turn the table a couple more times. My husband literally had food passed over his head multiple times without even the slightest acknowledgment or feeble mention of an "excuse me". Ultimately it left a stain on the evening, and I'll happily spend my money where the dining experience is favoured. Of course the building and it's old Montreal style is always a nice place to be a part of.

I’m not usually a fan of inner city venues but this is an exception. My boss tried for a few years to get me to downtown Montreal CA. This time I went along and I absolutely loved it. Walk downtown Montreal and treat yourself to a steak dinner at Gibbys. Make sure you stop by all the art galleries!

Katherine "Frenchie" was amazing, especially with my young nieces. Her service was top notch. Blue cheese wedge salad was absolutely delicious. Rib eye was thin and slightly over, but not bad. Unfortunately had 2 other steaks sent back, one over, one under. Kind of surprising for a place that focuses mainly on steak, and charges highly for it. Good meal, great wine, beautiful atmosphere, but overpriced.

We dined with a group of 10, and the experience exceeded expectations. Our waitress, Geneviève, was especially accommodating. She made sure everyone felt well taken care of throughout the evening and handled our larger group without missing a beat. Everything was was exceptional from start to finish. The food was outstanding across the board. From appetizers to desserts, everything was consistently impressive. We truly appreciated the attention to detail and overall experience. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience in Montreal.

It’s easy to see how this restaurant has maintained its reputation for over 55 years. The steaks are done to absolute perfection—expertly cooked, flavorful, and exactly what you hope for when you sit down for a classic steakhouse meal. A special mention to our waiter, Kashra, who was incredibly charming and attentive. He added a personal touch to the evening that made the experience even more enjoyable. Between the historic setting, exceptional food, and warm service, Gibby’s delivers on every level. A true Montreal staple and well worth the visit.
