What an incredible restaurant! The food and service was absolutely fantastic and our server Harry was extremely attentive and helpful and made our evening out really wonderful. Although pricey, I would highly recommend for any special occasion, just a terrific evening out!

Sat upstairs. Was quite noisy. Not sure if it was the other guests per say or the acoustics. No more cottage cheese on the menu :( Monte carlo potatoe seemed a bit less impressive than what I remember. Perhaps that's just me. They also dont sweep the table of crumbs between courses and after the meal. That was always a nice touch. A detail that set it apart from other dining rooms. Our server Charlie was excellent. She had great energy, was attentive and very personable. Was great as always. Packed on all 3 levels on a random Wednesday night.

I’m writing this one to warn others not to waste their money the way I did, hoping for a nice meal. And maybe so the owner can read this and realize his restaurant is going downhill and do something about it. I can imagine a time when this place was genuinely good. Perhaps being famous means they can rely on people continuing to come through the door regardless, but that is no excuse for such disappointing food and service. The hosts were rude, the service was painfully slow, she dropped our menus on the floor and walked away, returned after 20 minutes and asked if we are ready to order, we said yes, she then said okay just give me a few minutes and left again for another 10. and we had to ask multiple times for water refills before finally receiving any, I’m more than willing to pay $20+ for a good cocktail, but these were not good. They tasted artificial, overly sugary, and like cheap syrup. The bread was dry and cold, and the Beef Wellington was just bad. When the waitress asked how the Wellington was, we tried to be honest and said it really wasn’t very good. She seemed stunned by our response, but instead of offering a solution or even acknowledging our concerns, she simply replied, “That’s how we do it here.” The meat was a sad, grey piece that was nowhere near what we expected. Nothing about the food tasted fresh. The quality was so disappointing that I was thinking this chef must have lost his passion for cooking good food. The food tastes like he hates his job. We overheard the table next to us say "We should've just gone to The KEG" We barely ate two bites before giving up, and our plates were taken away with nothing more than a dessert offered as compensation for an otherwise terrible experience. A complimentary dessert doesn’t make up for poor food, slow service, rude staff, and a complete lack of effort to address a customer's concerns.The dessert was fine but it was like something you buy out of the frozen section of a grocery store. Overall, it was an incredibly disappointing experience. The food lacked quality, the cocktails were not good, and the service made everything worse. This was our worst meal in Montreal and somehow also the most expensive. Montreal has so many fantastic places to eat, with genuinely good food, great cocktails, and service that makes you feel welcome. Please save your money and go somewhere that actually delivers on those things.

We came from Ontario, and this place was highly recommended! Unfortunately, our experience fell short. The appetizers (burrata, onion soup, and salad) were 5/5, but the filet mignon was overcooked and very dry. We’ve had better at the keg. (3/5). Service was disappointing (2/5). Our waiter wasn’t personable or attentive, and we waited so long for our plates to be cleared that we skipped dessert and coffee. For a $400 bill, we expected better. Other waiters seemed fantastic, so perhaps we were just unlucky. Still worth trying for the unique atmosphere!

My biggest gripe was the length of service. 3+ hours. The food and service was good but my steak came a bit medium rather than medium rare. Im sure it doesnt happen often. Was still quite good

Food was great here, however the table next to us was a large party who were incredibly loud, obnoxious and making racist comments. One person was screaming with laughter that it was so startling I turned to see what was happening, they noticed this and continued making rude comments about us and literally yelling at our table. Our meal was nearly over so we just left as soon as we could. Perhaps staff could be better trained on de escalating behaviour of such customers and also noticing when alcohol consumption is at its limit. It’s kind of shocking these guests could just continue making racist comments and yelling at other customers and everyone else around would just tolerate it because they are racking up such a big bill. I realize this experience isn’t necessarily the restaurants fault but something should have been done. Some of the language they were using was unacceptable and their table was right beside the serving station so I find it hard to believe with a dozen staff standing there no one heard what was being said. If anything the obnoxiousness coming from the table was overwhelming the entire lower floor. Paying several hundred dollars for a meal, I expected to enjoy the meal in an elegant atmosphere but it sounded like we were in a dive bar full of unruly drunk patrons.

My fiancé proposed to me in the beautiful courtyard at Gibby’s, and I honestly couldn’t have imagined a more perfect setting for such a special moment! ❤️ First of all, the food was absolutely phenomenal. Hands down, one of the best meals I have ever had! Everything was exceptional from start to finish. But what truly made this experience unforgettable was the incredible service, especially from our server, Jason. He went above and beyond in every possible way! From topping up our champagne glasses to surprising us with several complimentary items to celebrate our engagement, his generosity, kindness, and genuine excitement for us were so touching. The entire team made us feel celebrated and special. It wasn’t just lunch; it was an experience and a beautiful memory that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. Jason, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making an already magical moment even more extraordinary! Your thoughtfulness and exceptional hospitality did not go unnoticed. Gibby’s has officially earned a very special place in our hearts, and we will absolutely be back! I went to Gibbys and ordered the 20 oz Gibby’s Cut as i always do. Expecting an $84 steak price. The waiter was not easy to speak to. He obviously interpreted that i wanted the $180 Cowboy Ribeye which i did not! The thing is, I think he knew what i wanted but pulled a little “switcheroo” on me knowing i was on a date and on best behavior. Besides all that, the steak was genuinely leathery, room temp, unseasoned and awful. He didn’t ask if we were perhaps not happy with the steak even though we didn’t eat it. I honestly feel scammed. When we go there, we are always happy sharing the 20 oz Gibby’s Cut Ribeye.

Waiter was forgetful and unattentive. He ignored my wife completely (twice ) when pouring wine. When asked for non sparkling water he brought and charged for sparkling. Food ( fish and beef was over cooked.

Service was very good. Appetizer to note-Carpaccio excellent. Oyster well presented. Cocktails well made. Bread, pickles, sorbet before & between courses nice classy touch. Food was very good untill mains came. Steak not done as requested. They refired one and the other was cooked-up (should have refired both) In the end they did what they could to make it right. It did kill the vibe a bit. Might have to try again.

Had a terrific experience -- atmosphere was nice, waiter was humorful and generally excellent, and then we got home and I opened my little doggie box. Presumably the person who cleared my plate and placed my leftover lamb legs in the box had eaten 1 of them!!! The lamb legs were amazing, and also VERY expensive, but well worth it. 8 were served. For me, 4 were ample, so I looked forward to enjoying them the next day along with the potatoes. I certainly wasn't going to throw them away. If you can imagine, I was stunned to open the box and find only 3 little lamb legs (big one was gone) and no potatoes. OMG. I've never had that happen before - their staff actually ate off my plate! Gross. Do they pay their staff adequately... ?

Gibbys was beyond perfect from start to finish. The steak was honestly one of the best I’ve ever had, the salad was phenomenal, and the fresh bread was delicious. Dessert was the perfect finishing touch to an incredible meal. Our server, Sebastian, went above and beyond to make our night special. He even gave us a long list of things to do in Montreal while we’re here. That kind of thoughtfulness really sticks with you. Even the valet was kind enough to accommodate us and park our car when we didn’t have cash. The food alone would have earned five stars, but the people made the whole experience unforgettable. Easily one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. Thank you, Sebastian and the entire Gibbys team!

Gibbys is one of those places that you hear about and it gets so hyped up that you have high expectations. At $100+ per person, I really expected to be wowed. Unfortunately, I wasn't. Service was friendly and the food was good, not amazing. The starter bread and butter was not great. Bread was fine, but the butter is tasteless. Salad was good. Sorbet was great. The rare steak I ordered was more medium, but still tender. I would consider this a mediocre steakhouse. Not worth the hour commute or price for the table d'hote. Also worth mentioning that before I had any food, I went to wash my hands and was completely turned off by the washroom. Smelled like a downtown alleyway. Perhaps this place used to be great but I don't understand the hype.

$20+ drinks served in casino high ball glasses. Sad A5 Wagyu served luke warm, complained and received the same reheated meat (now rubbery). Slow and understaffed service, crowded dining room. Take your money elsewhere for a premium steakhouse experience. The Keg will give you better value.
