These funny restaurants, Part III: The Dark Side

These funny restaurants, Part III: The Dark Side

Whether it is to stand out from the competition, wooing new customers or simply attract the spotlight on them, restaurant owners are sometimes ready to do everything. And they create different ways to do this day after day with concepts out of the ordinary. In this series, we'll introduce you to some... Part Three: Close your eyes.

An old adage says that the appetite begins with the eyes. But what if we are deprived of our eyes, sight?

Among the population, there are a lot of people with a visual impairment or complete blindness. Every day and every meal, they must contend with total darkness.

It is now possible to get it like them in Montreal restaurant "In The Dark". The restaurant is immersed in a perfect black out and gives work to a dozen of servers, all blind. You must follow them to your table by holding their shoulders like a train...

Once at the table, it is still completely dark. You fumble your environment with smooth touch without any sudden move to prevent spills. As the meal arrive, don’t try to use utensils. Eating with your fingers is easier and faster... and remember: nobody sees you...

Another strong point of this interesting concept is the taste, or when you try to discover the meal served without seeing it. Your senses will work differently.
