The medieval concept in the restaurant

The medieval concept in the restaurant

We recently talked about a whole new restaurant concept, which features electronic sports. In fact, there is a whole lot of concept, but one among others, not new at all and which does not lose popularity, is that of the medieval-style restaurant. And what makes these restaurants so special?
First, you have to understand that the medieval relates to the period of the Middle Ages in Europe. This period is between Antiquity and the Renaissance or the great discoveries, from the year 475 to 1450 approximately. It is therefore the era of warriors and knights, kings and queens but also of the powerful clergy, kingdoms and castles.
Nowadays, the medieval era fascinates. It is not uncommon to see reproductions of the great battles of this period, of people dressed in the same way and living for a weekend, according to the same customs.
Obviously, some restaurateurs in the province have jumped at the opportunity and offer a similar atmosphere in their establishment. This is the case of La Chope Gobeline in Quebec and Sanglier Doré in Sherbrooke.
The decor is adapted according to what we could find during this period, even the service cutlery, and the employees are dressed in the same way too. Thus, we quickly enter the atmosphere of this era from the first step in the establishment. If it doesn't work for you from the start, wait until the chansonniers start their show.
As for the menu, it offers original choices such as deer and wild boar prepared in the manner of our distant ancestors.
La Chope also stands out by offering skewers directly from the sword! This dish, which must be booked at least two days in advance, is available for three people.
At the Sanglier Doré, try the Cheese loaf instead (round bread stuffed with homemade onion butter, chives and St-Benoît brothers' cheese).
It is an invitation to make this discovery. And you don’t need to set off as you used to to get there!
