Lio Festa thinks big, Ashton is 50 years old and a new $ 3.5 million restaurant at Galeries de la Capitale

Here is a quick delivery of a trio of short news on the Quebec catering industry:

First, Lio Festa, a Portuguese chicken restaurant located on Maguire Street in Quebec City, is celebrating its first birthday! As a gift, the establishment will offer a new branch in July in the Pyramid Ste-Foy. But that's not all, the founder Perry Marcoux announces at the same time the opening of a first restaurant outside the region of Quebec, more precisely in Beloeil, by the end of the summer. It seems that this incursion near the greater Montreal area is the beginning of an expansion to watch closely.

For its part, the famous Ashton restaurant of the Old Capital celebrates its 50th anniversary. The opening of the first Ashton, simply a potato trailer, actually took place in 1969. The founder Ashton Leblond is still at the helm of the company. It is the quality of the products served to the customers that allowed him, from his beginnings, to stand out from his competitors. Mr. Leblond also notes that poutine, once shunned by the population of Quebec, now represents 50% of its turnover ... Normal, many consider it the best in the province!

Finally, rumors are rife about the opening of a mega restaurant at a cost of $ 3.5 million at Galeries de la Capitale. The team behind this project? The group Restos Pleasures, the company behind the Crazy Pig and the Rabbit Sauté, among others. The company is careful not to reveal the concept of this future establishment but confirms that it will be different from other restaurants in the group. It is already assured that the menu will give a prominent place to local foods as well as vegetarian and vegan dishes. The opening of the planned in December 2019.
