The phrase "eat local" will not say the same thing

The phrase "eat local" will not say the same thing

In last weeks, all food produced in Quebec is now local. The changes made to the regulations by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency could confuse many restaurants and locavore movement enthusiasts.

Previously, foods made more than 50 kilometers from his sale point could bring the "local" label. The Agency, however, brought up to date this term. Thus, any food sold in the same province as the place of manufacture shall be considered local.

In this way, the Agency joined the thought of Pauline Marois. The latter, through its policy of food sovereignty, wants to encourage Quebecers to consume products of the province, regardless of the distance food travels to reach your plate.

Restaurateurs promoting the purchase of local products, which means in this case food produced in the same region, will make adjustments. Can they keep the expression? Will they find a new name? Will they simply say that purchased products grown in Quebec?

For a locavore, local food means consuming products within a radius of 160 km foods. This movement then wants to encourage local economy to support farmers close to home. He wants to minimize transportation and pollution created to bring the point of sale.
