Fast delivery: slow government, postponement and renewal

Let's get started without delay with three short news that have been talked about in the past few days!

Government assistance to businesses: it's long!

It takes a lot of patience for restaurateurs who have been waiting for the government aid promised since the beginning of the crisis. The heads of establishments in the restaurant sector deplore the fact that elected officials make many promises without realizing them as quickly as planned. Among other things, the owner of Saint-Houblon, Alexandre Verville, reports having received no aid payments.

For more than a month, the governments of Quebec and Canada have been making daily press points where they have announced various assistance programs for individuals and businesses. The quantified aid is several billion dollars. However, nothing concrete in the restaurant bank accounts!

The federal government announced a 75% wage subsidy and a quick loan of $ 40,000.

Quebec Exquis! postponed

The organization of the Quebec Exquis! Festival, which was supposed to take place at the beginning of May, has so far been postponed until later in 2020. The event which has been taking place in Quebec since 2011, will wait a bit to celebrate its 10th anniversary. The organizers have announced that they will take the opportunity to review the festival’s objectives in order to offer better support to the local tourism and agrifood industry.

"We hope that Quebec Exquis! will serve as a spark plug to boost attendance at establishments in the Capitale-Nationale after this crisis which has hit industry hard, "said Vincent Lafortune, president and founder of the Festival.

Meanwhile, the festival will offer local businesses free to use its digital broadcast platforms to share their initiatives during the crisis.

Liza Frulla: five more years at the head of the ITHQ

It is in a particular context that the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Institut de tourisme et d'hôtellerie du Québec (ITHQ), Mr. Paolo Di Pietrantonio, announced the renewal of Ms. Liza Frulla's contract for five years moreover as director general of the establishment. She was first hired in 2015 and since then has helped the ITHQ achieve a level of excellence equivalent to the largest schools of the same type.
The national and international influence of the ITHQ has been unequaled since its arrival, as evidenced by the numerous agreements concluded with educational establishments and certain prestigious organizations from across the province and across the country and around the world.
It is expected that in these difficult times, the presence of Ms. Frulla at the head of the institution will be a major asset when the time for revival strikes the country.
