No Junk Food in the New Colisée?

No Junk Food in the New Colisée?

The “new Colisée” construction gets underway in Québec City. The site is overwhelmed by workers days in, days out. And backstage, several restaurant actors are busy negotiating to be the first manager of food concessions. What will be on the menu? Poutines, hotdogs, chips, pretzels or anything more “healthy”?

Across the Belle Province, various government agencies are trying to abolish junk food in arenas. In recent years, they seek caterers to introduce healthy food menu.

Is Quebecor and Quebec City give concrete example with their new Arena?

Le Journal de Québec recently told us that, in addition to international companies with expertise in this area, some well-known restaurant owners in the province were in the race for the privilege to manage all food and drink activities.

Among others, the Château Bonne Entente and Cage aux sports now team up. A great rivalry is about to fire up, as Jean Soulard, formerly of Château Frontenac, is also in the race.

The presence of these big names is somewhat encouraging for those who would see the elimination of junk food from our sporting events. Given their experience in gastronomy, it would be normal for them to put forward a healthy menu.

The announcement should be made this summer or even the fall of 2014.

In your opinion, does a hockey game remain the same without hot dogs and chips?
