Art on the menu: 5 restaurants-galleries to discover!

The art and cuisine do they mix? Some restaurants have decided to combine pleasure and taste buds to create art galleries-restaurants that are real small museums. Here are 5 to learn to contemplate the works of local artists while enjoying a delicious meal.


1. Eat, Montreal
The chic restaurant of the W Hotel in Montreal is almost a work of art in itself. On the walls alongside finished paintings and white canvases to be painted over time. The restaurant also offers artists to come perform their works on site, in full view of customers. The furniture is also full of broken graffiti. On the menu are fish and seafood shining.


2. For the 5 senses, Inverness
Located in the beautiful village of Inverness, in the Centre-du-Québec, the 5 senses restaurant Aux exposes a variety of works by local artists running in disciplines as varied as bronze, sculpture, woodworking and painting. Places are a real spectacle for the eyes. It serves unpretentious, putting to the forefront local products.


3. Gwalarn, Quebec
Nicely nestled in Old Cap-Rouge, the Gwalarn is a gallery-restaurant that invites relaxation. It offers French cuisine featuring pasta, grilled meats and seafood. The game also has an important place on the menu. The restaurant was designed to preserve the privacy of the guests and the dining room is divided into 3 parts. A garden terrace is also hidden in the back yard for beautiful summer days where you can admire the Cap-Rouge River. It is in the Gwal'Art that contains works, mainly paintings and stained glass. It organizes also meetings with artists on a regular basis.


4. Art'chipel Gallery, Lévis
In Lévis, Art'chipel The gallery has the ambition to feed the mind and stomach simultaneously. Several artists from the region and outside exposed in this setting inspiring calm. In the kitchen, there is a follower of slow food and crusine. Teas, herbal teas and organic coffees are also part of the offer. An intimate terrace surrounded by an organic garden is also on site.


5. Café des Arts, Montreal
In the heart of the Old Port of Montreal, in the Bonsecours market, we take a break at the Café des Arts / MAM Gallery where works by contemporary Canadian artists are exhibited. The Institution also wants a meeting place for the arts community and the public. In the plate, diners paninis, salads and homemade pastries that no longer have to make their reputation.
