A first ephemeral restaurant in Quebec City

A first ephemeral restaurant in Quebec City

What is an ephemeral restaurant? As its name suggests, this is a restaurant that is not permanent. Ephemeral restaurants are growing everywhere on the planet. Often presenting a strong concept, they serve to surprise the customers and make them live an extraordinary experience.
In Quebec City, the owner of Chez Rioux & Pettigrew's restaurant, Stéphane Grenon, launches his first ephemeral restaurant: La Bonne Étoile. Open since July 3, 2018, the restaurant lives for a summer. The theme? 100% Quebec. And we feel that the research has been well thought out.
Why make an ephemeral restaurant?
Because the summer passes quickly in Quebec and our products have a limited duration. With this restaurant, the owner wants to let go of his crazy. No constraints. The restaurant will close at the same time as the good weather will come to an end. But next summer, he will be reborn. With a new appearance? A new name? A new concept? Everything is possible!
Unique place
To enter the restaurant, we go through the kitchens of Chez Rioux & Pettigrew, it's part of the adventure and we feel that we are privileged. We landed in an old warehouse and we think we are literally returning to Quebec from our grandmothers. The scenery is splendid. Wherever we look, collector's items are reminiscent of our Quebec roots. It's like a mini museum of yesteryear. The old cash register is one of the centerpieces of the room. Antique freezers also bring us back to life when electricity was not yet commonplace. In the room, the long tables are reminiscent of the large families of old. It is in the conviviality that we can expect, whether or not to engage in conversation with the neighbors. To our ears sneaks current Quebec tunes.
Quebec postcard
On the menu, it is the festival of discoveries. Amaranth, elderberry, camelina, rapeseed, sea buckthorn, marigold, ... Do we really have all our products here? Yes, all foods are made from Quebec products. "There is only salt that is difficult to get," says our server. Otherwise, even the wine list is entirely Quebec. Beer side, we are spoiled with a beer brewed to measure, pepper dunes.
La Bonne Etoile, a perfect restaurant to connect with our Quebec roots and to reveal our unique identity to all foreign visitors. To try without hesitation, but hurry, because it will not be there forever!
La Bonne Étoile, 160 St. Paul Street, Quebec
