Ribs and all at Baton Rouge

"What are you eating? "

The question did not even arise: the ribs, of course! They have made the reputation of the Baton Rouge for so long ... Although I am not a lover of ribs and meat in general, I was determined to go for the signature dish of the place. I was expecting to find different kinds of ribs on the menu, but there was only one BBQ that you could eat alone, with shrimp, chicken or lobster. Nice combinations all the same! As I felt that the dish would already be strong, I opted for the piece of meat solo. A variety of choices were left to the accompaniments and I went for the sweet potatoes fries, a question of change. However, if we opt for these fries instead of regular, we were not entitled to cabbage salad. Although they were very good, I regretted a little my choice, because I would have wanted a little freshness on the plate. A raised rib and fries, that was heavy ... and a little fat. No surprise, however, I knew what to expect when ordering such a plate. The sauce was very good and the meat very tender, I even managed to eat them elegantly, proving that cooking was well controlled. At table, it was unanimity or almost, all the small band had chosen the spare ribs except a friend who had opted for the tartare. At the sight of his plate, I swallowed a hint of jealousy, a nice salad and a generous tartare, the freshness was definitely at the rendezvous. Next time, if I recommend the succulent ribs, I will opt for a salad to accompany this dish a little loaded.

The restaurant was crowded on Thursday night, it must be said that it is well located, just off the highway near a major tourist point: the Galeries de la Capitale. There were a lot of tourists in the room, but it brought a festive air. The restaurant is spacious and the decor is classic. We had opted for a round table so we could see all the guests, but the nice seats looked a little more comfortable. The service was good, but a bit distant.

There are many Baton Rouge in the province as well as Ontario and Nova Scotia. This is a beautiful address for big appetites and lovers of spare ribs!
