Just because lobster is the specialty of the place doesn't mean the restaurant looks haughty. On the contrary, I received a warm welcome when I sat down at the brand new Pincette - Lobster bar with a long-time friend.
After not seeing each other for almost three years, we needed a festive restaurant and what is more, would satisfy the two seafood lovers that we are. This supreme crustacean has never managed to be dislodged from its place of "favorite dish" since my childhood, a lobster "bar" was ideal for me, I would even say, the dream!
Like at the seaside
When I arrive, I am jubilant! With the restaurant located in the heart of Old Montreal, the atmosphere is festive on this hot summer evening. And it feels good to see happy smiles. Despite the splendid terrace, it is inside, in the cool, that we decide to settle down. I instinctively like the place. First, thanks to the stone wall that characterizes Old Montreal, then by the cozy and warm decoration. They want to transport us to the seaside and it is successful. I love the wooden lobster cages that hang from the ceiling as a light fixture. A central element of the room, the "bar" also appeals to me by displaying all these seafood like precious jewels.
On board
We set our anchor for our gastronomic journey with an aperitif to celebrate our reunion. My guest chose the signature cocktail, the Bloody Pincette topped with a snow crab leg. For my part, I go for the Auberge's Mojito with rum, lime juice, fresh mint and melon. Both won over, we then attack our starters: fresh oysters (how can you resist!) And breaded mussel meat. As I have a crush on all seafood, oysters are no exception. Without lying, I can say loud and clear that these are the freshest and tastiest I have ever eaten. There it is! When it comes to breaded mussels, it's simply magical! I immediately return to my memories of a memorable meal shared by the sea in Souris, Prince Edward Island.
Lobster, of course!
You won't be surprised to learn that it was the grilled half-lobster with fries and salad that held my favor. Perfection! I don't need to say more and expand on the subject. The lobster mac & cheese was my friend's choice. A success across the board for her as well, which to her delight turned out to be a lighter dish than she expected.
The final touch
The cruise ended with a deconstructed key lime pie. Having been disappointed with my last desserts at the restaurant and not being the "pie" type, I didn't have high expectations. Once again, one word is enough to describe it: unbelievable. Simply!
So, I have nothing to say about this new restaurant in Old Montreal since this summer! Long live Pincette!
