Fun stop to see the maple syrup source and how a family run sucrerie is run. Lots of amazing historic items and a cool look at how they have been living. We were able to have a meal with pea soup, fresh bread, ham, beans, omelet, and sausage with pancakes for dessert ...all with as much maple syrup as you want. Music while you eat in a rustic dining hall. Great gift shop and friendly staff.
What guests say about Sucrerie de la Montagne
La Sucrerie de la Montagne is often described as a very traditional, warm, and immersive place, with music, a Quebec-style atmosphere, and charming decor. Many customers enjoyed the food, attentive service, and authentic experience, but others found the portions, quality, or variety inconsistent depending on the time. The main points to watch are the price, which is seen as high, long waits despite a reservation, and an organization that can sometimes be overwhelmed during busy periods.

Not only is this an incredibly place for sugaring-off season. But this has been a place my friends and I go for Christmas season for dinner together. This has everything you want from a sugar shack.
The decor is superb. The good is great. The staff efficient and extremely friendly. The location is amazing Great experience!!!
A wonderful place to spend time with family or friends. The food is delicious, and the setting is beautiful — it feels like stepping into another century. We arrived around noon and didn’t realize that at that time only the full meal is usually served. We were just hoping to have coffee with something sweet. The place was very busy and the staff were clearly occupied, but we really appreciated that they still took the time to welcome us, seat us, and even prepare coffee and pancakes just for us. It felt very cozy and truly authentic. We had a lovely experience and would definitely come back.
Amazing place!! Very familiar people, great food and history. Of course, amazing maple syrup!👌👌
Open year round. Must see and visit. Great traditional food.
Incredible authentic Canadian maple syrup experience. The Faucher family are wonderful people rich with heritage.
Went for the sugar shack experience and was not disappointed. The fresh maple taffy was incredible and the meal was delicious. I loved the pea soup! They had live music including a violinist. Fun for a family outing or gathering with friends.
Delicious food, good service and great entertainment.
I loved the place it's charming, the atmosphere and the great ambiance. It's very traditional, the food was good too. The service was a bit slow because I went during peak hours and there aren't many staff members, so I had to wait quite a while. I'm only giving it three stars because of an incident I experienced that I really didn't appreciate, and which has never happened to me anywhere else. My wife usually keeps some food to take away when she likes a dish or is full. I think that's common practice. However, when I asked two different servers, on two separate occasions, if they could give me a box or container to take the leftovers home, they were very curt and flatly refused, even going so far as to say that we weren't allowed to take food home. That was a bit odd and disappointing, considering the service is expensive. So I wonder what they do with the food, do they reuse it? Or worse, do they throw it away? Overall, everything was fine. Tip: Book it in advance.
We had a great time, one of the better sugar shacks I have been to.
This is a big place, a bit loud, but the service is well organized, the food is good, and the atmosphere too. We went there with our kids and liked it.
What an amazing dining experience. A true hidden gem. One of the best times I’ve had out in a long time.
Exelent
Where do I even begin? There was no handicapped parking in the lot, and the parking staff there were slightly unfriendly. Our reservation had specifically requested a 30-minute arrival, but when we arrived, we were informed that the dining area wasn’t ready and to explore the area(to b fair, we couldn’t explore cause it was hailing outside). The traditional meal appeared to not be homemade. Our bacon was brunt, but the eggs and ham with maple syrup was delicious. The bread was beyond amazing! (I should’ve asked for the recipe). If you wanted anything other than tea (selection was very limited), coffee, or water, you could purchase drinks from the bar. The bar did take debit. Our server was incredibly helpful and kind! The music was a nice touch, but it made it difficult to hear anything. Overall, I think $162.22 for two people was a bit steep considering the quality of the food we had.
I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at Sucrerie de la Montagne, especially considering its reputation. As my 67-year-old father who had recently undergone shoulder surgery was in the process of getting onto the horse carriage, it was suddenly set into motion without proper warning or assistance. This created a dangerous situation where he was nearly knocked over, and in the process, he tore a surgical staple. This is not a minor issue it’s a serious lapse in safety that could have resulted in a much more severe injury. On top of that, the quality of the food did not meet expectations. The bread, which should be a basic staple, was undercooked in several areas, which was disappointing and frankly unacceptable for a place that prides itself on traditional cuisine. Between the lack of safety precautions and inconsistent food quality, this experience fell far below what should be expected. I strongly urge management to take both guest safety and food standards much more seriously.
Super busy but definitely recommend to families or couples! Surrounded by horses and maple syrup, it's a must
To be honest the price ($70) does not justify the food (quality and quantity). We were a group of 4 people and sat us ina space that has space for 2 actualadult sizes. They secede us 3 sausages and we were 4. I complain to the waiter and brought more. Why do I need to complain if I already pay enough? Most people at the cabane was warm and welcoming except for two waitresses who were sitting people or bringing drinks. I liked the music but I wouldn't pay again 70 bucks just for it.
It was a great pleasure to have old style Canadian lunch in Sucrerie de la Montagne. The atmosphere was so great. I love to visit family business places and would recommend this cute place.
It Was okay nothing special at all and I find the price to have gotten really expensive for what it is. The food was okay portions have gotten smaller and I feel they don't have the same variety they used to and are missing some staples of a Sugar Shack but the kids still got the typical sugar High and passed out in the car on the way home
Such a great experience
It was a wonderful setting to enjoy a delicious meal! The fireplace, outdoor fire and traditional, functional tapping on full display made for an interactive, immersive experience. The maple candy in the snow cannot be missed, and make sure to stop in the general store before you leave.
When we arrived, the place was completely packed. We couldn’t even find parking, and once we finally did, we were met with a massive line. We ended up waiting over an hour outside in the cold. The situation was handled very poorly. Management clearly wasn’t prepared for the volume of guests, and there was little to no effort to properly accommodate the long wait times. The only gesture offered was a small cup of very watered-down hot chocolate, which felt insufficient given the circumstances. Whoever was the manager on that day should be fired ASAP! To make matters worse, the food portions were very small, and of course they tried to fill us up with a lot of bread and soup beforehand (typical). Overall, the experience didn’t justify the high prices at all. I wouldn’t recommend this place.
We recently visited this sugar shack and had really mixed feelings about the experience. On one hand, the place itself is absolutely charming, the atmosphere is warm, cozy, and exactly what you’d hope for. The food was delicious and definitely lived up to expectations. Unfortunately, the service completely ruined what should have been a great outing. We had a reservation for 1:30 PM, yet we waited an entire hour outside in the cold before being seated and only sat down at 2:30 PM. After such a long wait especially with two babies under one year old we were then directed to a table that was clearly too small for us. It was completely unreasonable to try and squeeze us there given our situation. From the moment we arrived, the hostess at the front (red hair with a septum/nose piercing) was incredibly rude, hostile and unaccommodating. When we expressed that the table they finally wanted to seat us at after an hour wait wouldn’t work for us (had no room for 2 infants), her attitude only became more dismissive and rude. She told us that we could not sit anywhere else when clearly that was untrue as there was a whole other empty room at the other side being set up. At one point, she even mentioned that since we were part of the last service, they were tired and needed breaks so they wouldn’t be able to set up another table for us promptly and we would have to wait another 30 min.. Something that should never be said to paying customers. Why are we expected to pay for their breaks or be penalized for being the last service? It came across as extremely unprofessional and inappropriate. Not even sure why someone so bitter is working at a place like this. After 10 min of trying to get her to understand, magically the other side was completely ready and we were given a larger table there. Was it really another 30 min wait or just her not wanting to accommodate us? She clearly had no regard and just wanted to rush and shove us somewhere. Its pitiful to treat people with young children like this. It’s really disappointing because the setting and food had so much potential to make this a wonderful experience, but the service, especially this interaction with the young lady, overshadowed everything. Between the long wait, the lack of consideration for our small children, and the overall attitude we were met with, it turned what should have been a nice outing into a frustrating and unpleasant experience.
It was a bit pricey, but it was good experience overall. The staff were really nice especially the sweet clara 🫶 . Nice place
