This was a review for our intended Dome experience, but also applies to any other experience involving food with them. Read reviews from many sites!Made reservations for Saturday through TripAdvisor, and received confirmation 7 days prior to our trip. I was planning on surprising my wife with a nice romantic dinner. She had an accident a few years ago and has lasting daily symptoms from her brain injury and loud restaurants are very difficult for her. Noise cancelling headphones help her, but it just extends the period of time before she is exhausted by a little bit. When I found these dome experiences, it was perfect, we could go out to eat without the background noise in an amazing setting!Arrived on Saturday and they could not find our reservations, I had downloaded the tickets from TripAdvisor. Initially, he tried to tell me it was for the boat restaurant, but the tickets clearly said dome experience. He called the owner and after a bit, the owner told him we cancelled. We did not cancel, nor does TripAdvisor allow any cancellations of this particular experience. I was extremely disappointed, but what we saw while we were there waiting softened the blow a bit. Upon getting back to our hotel later, I logged into my credit card account, and did indeed see a refund for the tour 4 days after we booked, but we never received any email notification on that, and had no idea. Assuming they aren't synced up properly, and possibly overbooked between their website and the 3rd party site. Now back to what we saw while there...When we arrived, we were slightly early, so we boarded the boat, and went downstairs to use the restroom, which is the main dining area. There was a large rack that held plates of food (over a dozen) in the main hallway, all uncovered, and less than 5' from the Men's room door. While in the restroom, there was a small home type soap dispenser that was completely empty, and upon my wife completing her visit to the ladies room, she mentioned the same thing for the women's room. Got a very bad vibe of the cleanliness of the entire operation, and in reading reviews for the boat experience (which is the same food as the dome), many review complained about poor tasting food, hair in food, etc. Certainly, if they had plates of food yet to be served out in the full open near the men's room, I can only imagine what we're not seeing behind the scenes.Ended up walking back to Old Town and going to the Keg steakhouse. My wife didn't last long there, and it was not the experience we wanted, but the food was excellent. I'm hoping that the place gets a visit from health inspectors, as the issue that we saw alone had to be a code violation and nobody bothering with soap in the bathrooms, which were the only bathrooms there, so the employees use them too. If you do end up going, I imagine the domes are incredible, just maybe bring your own food! (Kidding of course, they would not allow)

We were visiting from Toronto to celebrate my birthday. We booked on-line and the process was very easy. The boat was easy to locate and Isabelle (our server) was fantastic. She was so pleasant and helpful, didn’t rush us at all. The food was fantastic! Recommend to anyone looking for a unique and amazing experience ! Love Montréal!

Terrible service! Called to make a reservation and called back to cancel not even 24hrs later due to a change in plans (the guy was not very nice). Nowhere on the site does it say that they take a percentage of the reimbursement. They took 60$ as a cancelation fee. Called back to complain about the fee, they didn't offer to change the date and encouraged us to leave a bad review as he didn't care. Think twice before booking we got scammed!

Hello Phil, We would like to clarify the situation, as there seems to be some confusion regarding your cancellation. When the reservation was made, our cancellation policy — which is displayed during the booking process — indicates that reservations are non-refundable. Despite this, when your party contacted us within 24 hours due to a change of plans, we agreed to make an exception. Because the transaction had already been processed, we retained a portion of the amount strictly to cover the non-recoverable fees associated with credit card processing and the reservation platform. This is not a “penalty,” but simply the direct costs charged to us by third-party providers. During the phone call, the partial refund and its breakdown were explained and accepted. The refund was then processed immediately, even though it was outside of our standard policy. We always aim to be fair and reasonable, and in this case we went beyond our stated policy to accommodate your request. We regret that you felt dissatisfied, but we categorically reject the claim that this was a scam. We remain available should you wish to discuss this further in a constructive manner. — Bateau-Mouche Management

Okay, let's bring some context in. My reservation was during Valentine's day. I know its a busy date. I was expecting slow service, so I'm not complaining about it Let's start from the beginning: The entrance of the boat looks extremely improvised. As soon as you get "onboard", the first thing I saw was a thrown sofa and a very improvised curtain trying to hide some mess behind it. This part looked like a recent added extension, no problems with that, but it seemed I was entering in a garage rather then a "fancy" restaurant. If you pay **only** for the reservation ~100 dolars (2 person), the minimum I expect is for the entrance to look at least finished. Don't need to be a 5 stars hotel. Finesse passed very far Food-wise, it was not the worst one I had in my life, but it wasn't the best either. I was expecting way more given the price for the reservation and price for the food. If it was 20% cheaper, it would have been okay. Some dishes even arrived cold on our table Now, about service, the waitress was very nice all the time, took time to explain things for us, no complains for her, but, I do have a few things to say about service in general. The table was not fully set when we arrived, I was missing my napkin and my partner was missing a fork for the main dish and for desert. When we asked for it, it took us a long time to have it. Still about service, taking a while to serve during a busy night is okay, but when the options on the menu are extremely simple, I think this excuse falls apart. 1 single option of soup, 2 appetizers, 4 for main dish (but same sides for all of them) and 2 options for desert (again same side for all of them). The overall dinner took 3 hours, but not because I took my sweet time, it was long because service took an eternity. A couple by my side even left without having their desert because they were simply too tired to keep waiting Not everything was bad though. The interior of the boat is very charming and it was not very noisy either. By choosing the table d'hôte, we were given 30 dolars discount (each) for drinks and wine, which pretty much made our bottle of wine free Overall, I wouldn't return anytime soon. For the price of near $400 for a couple (reservation + food), there are other more elegant and fine restaurants that I'd like to try before giving them another chance

Hello Victor, Thank you for taking the time to provide such detailed feedback. It’s genuinely appreciated. You’re absolutely right — Valentine’s Day is one of our busiest evenings of the year. While we prepare extensively, the ship operates at full capacity that night, which can unfortunately impact pacing despite our efforts. That’s context, not an excuse — and we understand how timing affects the overall perception of value. Regarding the entrance area: the structure you saw is a temporary operational extension. Because we operate on a vessel with very limited space, we use that section for additional kitchen staging and stocking during high-volume winter events. It is functional, but we completely understand your point about first impressions — presentation matters. On the pricing structure, we’d like to clarify one important element. The four-course Valentine’s menu was $100 per person. The $30 per person charged at booking was a beverage deposit fully credited back toward drinks and wine that evening. The only optional surcharge was $10 per person for window seating. So for two guests, the dinner total was $200, with $60 applied toward beverages, plus $20 if window seating was selected — not a $400 base reservation. If this structure wasn’t communicated clearly enough during booking, that is on us to improve. Regarding pacing, table setup, and cold dishes — missing utensils and temperature inconsistencies are not acceptable, even on busy nights. That feedback has been shared internally and taken seriously. We’re glad you appreciated the interior charm and your server’s professionalism. That balance in your review is fair. Your broader point about value perception is important. We are not positioned as a traditional fine-dining restaurant, but rather as a floating winter experience combining ambiance, and dining. However, expectations must align with pricing, and we continue refining both communication and execution to ensure they do. Thank you again for the constructive feedback. — Bateau-Mouche Management

Very bad service, unsanitary, bad presentation, very expensive for what the quality of the food, 2 drinks and 2 shots took 35mins to arrive. We waited 35mins outside and then 20 mins inside even if we had a reservation and while our table was already set. The manager was kissing with a waitress next to us whole we were waiting for our table. Overall , would not recommend this activity or the restaurant.

Hello JM, We take reviews very seriously, which is why your comments surprised us. We want to address a few points clearly. First, any allegation of inappropriate conduct by management is something we would never tolerate. We have reviewed this internally and found no situation matching what you described. Our management team maintains professional standards at all times on board. Regarding the wait time: on certain peak night, especially on Valentine night— arrival flow can create short delays even when tables are prepared. That said, 35 minutes outside and 20 minutes inside is not consistent with our standard procedures. We invite you to contact us directly with more details so we can properly look into your visit. Constructive feedback helps us improve — but it must also be factual. — Bateau-Mouche Management

Hello Mister Pedram, Using numerous accounts to write multiple 1 star won’t change anything. We’re sorry you didn’t enjoy your experience but we’re confident that most of the guests did and were happy with the way we’re running the seating plan. There’s more than 1 feet between tables, nobody complaining about “being unable to breath”. Have a nice evening. Management

Trouble, trouble atmosphere. I felt like I was in the basement of the Titanic. They overfilled this place by at least 500%. We couldn’t move a muscle or even speak because the next table was literally 5 cm from us in every direction. The manager and waitress did their best, and they handled things well. Shame on the owner of this restaurant. If I knew who you were, I would seriously give you a talking-to for ruining our Valentine’s Day.

Hello Mister Pedram! We’re relieved to confirm the boat is still afloat unlike the titanic. Jokes aside, Valentine night is one of the liveliest and busy night of the year for most restaurant. The room certainly reflected that excitement. That said, comfort matters and we appreciate the perspective. Thank you as well for recognizing our team’s efforts - I’ll make sure to mention it while they sleep in the basement of the ship.

Unless your rich and dont care about your money id suggest not going was a total of 350$ for 2 persons, was told the drinks would be cover by the 70$ deposit for the reservation but they were still put on the bill we would not have taken any drinks other wise. The food was not bad but for the price I felt really scammed I wouldnt recommend this restaurant to anyone truly you pay more for being on a boat I guess but like for that price I could buy better food anywhere else and still propably have 250$ saved in my account so would not recommend unless if your rich cause you be looking at about 420$ wasted

Hello Noah, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We would like to clarify the $70 amount mentioned. During our winter evenings, the $30 per person charged at booking is a prepaid beverage credit applied directly to your final bill. In some cases, an additional $10 per person is added for optional window seating. This amount is not an extra charge — it is meant to be deducted from your drinks total. If your beverages were not properly credited and appeared fully charged on the final bill, that would be a billing error on our end, and we sincerely apologize. On particularly busy evenings, adjustments can unfortunately be missed. We would be happy to review your receipt and issue a refund for any incorrectly billed amount. Please contact us directly with a copy of your bill so we can resolve this promptly. Regarding pricing more generally, our winter experience is a unique setup. The vessel was not originally designed for winter operations, and significant infrastructure — including additional heating systems and insulation — has been installed to allow guests to comfortably enjoy the space during the colder months. This creates an atmosphere and setting that differs from a traditional restaurant environment. That said, clarity around billing is essential, and we appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns directly. We remain available to make this right. — Bateau-Mouche Management

Hello Siena, We’re very sorry to read this. A “horrible experience” is not what we aim to deliver, and we would genuinely like to understand what went wrong during your visit. If you’re open to it, please contact us directly at [email protected] with your reservation so we can review the evening internally and see what we can do to repair this evening. We take feedback seriously and would appreciate the opportunity to look into this properly. — Bateau-Mouche Management
