I see now why it comes so highly recommended. This place is amazing, the lay out and design is worth the trip to begin with and the food and service were top notch. Very happy to have stopped here on our trip

It was amazing , the food was super good and the service too !
Great breakfast tray!
The atmosphere was excellent and the shepherd's pie was some of the best we've had. Poutine was great also!!
I was genuinely impressed as soon as I walked in — I wasn’t expecting the interior to be so beautiful. The décor really stands out, with snowshoes, antlers, wood details, and the contrast with the stone walls. The walls themselves, covered with “signatures” and memories from past visitors, create a unique and memorable atmosphere, especially for a first visit. We started with the beef croquettes. They were delicious, though the portion felt a bit small. For my main, I had the Quebec Shepherd’s Pie, which was excellent — tender, flavorful meat, nicely moist, and complemented by a fruit ketchup that adds a special touch. My wife ordered the Homemade Poutine and really enjoyed it, especially the gravy, which was rich yet delicate. I also tried the La Bûche NEIPA, which was very good. Like most restaurants in Old Quebec, prices are on the higher side, but I would absolutely return for the overall experience and the excellent service.
We come to La buche every time we visit QC City my husband and I. It’s just such a wonderfully warm and inviting place to eat!! The food is always delish, the portions surprisingly generous and presentation is great. The service is fantastic!! Today Yoan R. was our waiter and he was friendly and helpful with his recommendations, his team and himself kept the coffee coming, we never had to ask. We always enjoy our experience at La buche!! Make sure to save space for the Pudding Chômeur!!!
The best breakfast place I’ve ever been so far…
We had a blast. The atmosphere was great and really fun. The service was always on top of it and the food was incredible. We were recommended to go here and we would also highly recommend. Price was also great for what you got!
We really enjoyed the food. Wonderful staff location and ambience and a good value.
lots of fun and great traditional, hearty Quebecois cuisine!
What a delightful restaurant! From the absolutely delicious meals, to gracious Alex, to the cool vibe, and the even cooler bathrooms, La Buche was a 5 star experience!
This restaurant is best known for it's authentic Quebec food, and is a local favorite. The Quebec onion soup hits the spot and is way better than the French onion soup in France. We went there for brunch and had two onion soups, and chicken waffles with blue berries, maple syrup and ham. Food is delicious and a must if you come to Quebec. More- you must pay a visit to the rest rooms. They are uniquely decorated and will put a laugh on your face.
Fun and food was great
Came here third time, probably last. Food ok, but it's so dark inside you can't see what's on plate.
We had the most amazing meal at La Buche. It was exactly what we wanted for our final meal in Quebec City. The duck legs were the perfect appetizer. Our meals were phenomenal.
Great Quebecois restaurant, so good for brunch and top atmosphere and delicious food. We were actually recommended to by a random couple in the tobogganing line. What stood out above all else was the service - although super busy they did their absolute best to seat us and accommodate our quick visit (we had a flight to catch). Truly impressed! Thank you!!
Wonderful rustic Quebecois charm, great staff, food was fun. Recommend!
My waiter was so kind and helpful and the drinks were so good !!! It was my first time in Quebec and it did not disappoint!!! Highly recommend
The best maple pouring chomeur! I will definitely keep coming back just for that. The service and staff are amazing and friendly.
It was okay overall. Service wasn’t too great. The server, girl who looked like she didn’t want to be there, barely checked on us. it was hard to catch her. I tried to order with her, but she turned away and walked away. I get it, it’s busy and loud and it wouldn’t be a problem if it was the only issues. We ordered drinks. Jameson with coke. There was a price for shooter, which I pointed my finger to when I order that. However, the price was higher which I wasn’t notified about at all (the price is not even on the menu so I don’t know how I was supposed to know about that). So when the bill came I was surprised. The other server was billing us out, so I couldn’t even ask original girl about that. He only said, “oh yeah price for shot is different than for shooter, I can show you.” I trust you. It’s just maybe you should notify your guests about it since it’s not on the menu? Not a great customer service. Food wasn’t bad, but wasn’t outstanding. Overall, I wouldn’t come back. There are so many other great places around with much better service.
Great local experience - good food, many options, friendly staff. The music was a bit too loud for us, however we were seated in a good place overall. Recommended for local experience! Seemed a bit pricier than we expected! The onion soup was the best!
Good food. Great service! Very unique environment!
It was one of a bad experience in Quebec. They gave us bar table after 40 mins of waiting in minus degree. Tartar was too sweet.
If it's your first time in Quebec, you should definitely go to this place!
Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon for brunch. Without a reservation, I had to wait in line for one of the bar seats. It looked like they ran two separate queues, one for walk-ins and one for reservations. There weren’t many bar seats available, but I was able to get in after about a 30-minute wait. The bar seating was fairly tight. If I hadn't scored the corner spot, I would have been bumping elbows with strangers the whole meal, but I got to talk to other people next to me. I ordered the duck pie and the croquettes, and both felt like slightly elevated takes on classic Quebec comfort food. The fruit ketchup that came with the croquettes was better than most fruit ketchups I’ve had in QC, and it had a nice refreshing tangy sweetness. Probably not a place I’d wait too long for, but if you can secure a reservation, it’s worth checking out.
