I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The Poutine and The Crêpes with fruits was absolutely delicious, tasted fresh and well prepared. A great spot for satisfying comfort food . Highly recommended!

This is by far one of the restaurants in Quebec. The food is spectacular and the staff are absolutely amazing. The manager Nicolas is absolutely the best.
We had both a wonderful dinner and breakfast here. My wife and son were very happy with the delicious food and the friendly, relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant was quite busy, clearly popular not only with tourists but also with many locals. Highly recommend the onion soup and the foie gras with pouding chômeur — absolutely delicious!
We had a delicious dinner here, definitely on the pricey side - step daughter had the poutine, which at $18 was nothing special but she enjoyed it. Dinner was delicious, and we had an appetizer and two desserts (not pictured) and my husband had a beer.
La Buche is our favorite breakfast place hands down. It is a must every time we visit Quebec. The maple syrup on a stick and maple bacon are our favorite treats. We highly recommend that you check it out.
Everything was great except when they ask if you'd like bread delivered to the table, you will pay for it . It was $10.50 for 3 buns and butter for 3 people. The server asked if we wanted bacon on our shepperds pie and we said "sure" 2 strips of bacon on top cost $8.00. Beware of the up selling!
Obviously a very touristy spot, but I think it's still well worth your time for the very authentic Quebecois ambience, food, and music. We had a great server and we enjoyed the fun and raucous atmosphere. Both the food and drinks were solid and it was one of the better poutines we had between both QC and Montreal. Worth a visit!
Food was great. Service was outstanding. Kids loved the fudge and the carrot cake. Highly recommend if your visiting Quebec.
Awesome spot
All around fantastic experience with excellent service, delightful food at great value, and a unique atmosphere. We will certainly be back! The venison tartar was a favorite, followed by the French onion soup and the croquettes accompanied by the pickles and slaw.
Nice little sugar shack kind of restaurant. The food was delicious and the staff were nice and quick.
We ate at La Bûche on our last night in Quebec City based on a recommendation from our walking tour guide, who told us it was a great place to try traditional Québécois food. We walked in not quite knowing what to expect and were pleasantly surprised by the relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The service was outstanding, and our server, Caladenia, was an absolute delight. She offered thoughtful recommendations based on our interest in trying traditional dishes, and every single one of us loved what we ordered. It was the true definition of comfort food, and the portions were generous. We all would have taken leftovers with us if we hadn’t had an early flight the next morning! All in all, La Bûche gets a 10/10. It was the perfect complement to the fine dining experiences we enjoyed earlier in the week.
Very authentic Canadian food... delicious meal was had..lovely decor and service was outstanding
Our group of 6 had a great and unique dining experience at La Buche in March 2026. We loved the great selection of traditional hearty Quebecois dishes and "lighter" perhaps more modern dishes. They covered the range for all to have a great meal. I especially enjoyed the custom house Bloody Mary that came garnished with celery, shrimp and bacon! As good as the food was, the service and atmosphere were awesome and made it a true event. If visiting Quebec, you must go here!
Wasn’t sure after reading some less than positive reviews but we were 6 adults and love it. Yes, touristy but unique atmosphere /experience. Our waitress was wonderful, kept the mimosas flowing, recommended a great pub on St. Jean rue. Food was so much better than expected,. Recommend as a must visit.
Beautiful restaurant, great and warm vibe, super nice and friendly staff, and ofcourse super delicious food! The shepherd's pie was perfect!
Highly recommend this place the food was absolutely delicious and the service was amazing!
We enjoyed this restaurant so much that we ended up coming back twice in two days. The food was consistently delicious, with generous portions and great flavors. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and attentive. A place we would happily return to again deffo a must for any visit to Old Quebec City.
Such a wonderful experience 😍
We were greeted with a smile, our table was ready. Our waiter recommended a light crepe for us, which we split. It came split with two different plates( nice bonus). Americano coffee excellent and the latte was good. Highly recommend the place, very nice ambience
Unfortunately it was disappointing. First, the environment was not pleasant. Although the decorations are fun and rustic, the tables felt greasy and the entire place had a strong unpleasant smell. It smelled like cleaning chemicals mixed with damp wood, almost like a musty odor that never fully dried. Second, the food was really not good. I understand traditional Québécois cuisine can sometimes lean sweet, but everything we tried was excessively sweet. The venison dish had a strange flavor — sweet but also with a mustard-like sharpness, and the seasoning didn’t cover the gamey smell at all. After trying a few appetizers we decided to leave. Service was also quite average. No one really explained the menu or helped with recommendations. Overall it was not worth the price, mainly because the food quality was disappointing.
I cannot rate this place highly enough, my husband and I love it so much. Stopping here is a must when we are in Quebec. The cabane à sucre platter is to die for. The coffee is delicious. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Cool ambiance and vibe. I only wish they had a baby changing table but other than that it is perfection! Already counting down to the next visit!
A great experience made possible with yummy good, quick service and a comfortable atmosphere. Looking forward to a return visit.
Food is extremely sweet. Maple syrup poured on everything. Poutine was really good but everything else was just too sweet and waiting for a call to the dentist! Foie gras was eatable after we added salt to it!
Super!
