Loved the Bonhomme Carnaval statue and bench at the entrance! took some great pictures with my friend visiting from Australia (in May!!!) An opportunity to speak about Carnaval, sugaring off, and winter in our Central Canadian climate. Food was good, service was excellent. Loved the decor and that there was even a "snow" table for serving Maple Syrup taffy at any time of year.
What guests say about La Buche
La Bûche is highly appreciated for its authentic Quebec cuisine, hearty brunches, and desserts like pouding chômeur. The atmosphere is warm, original, and festive, with the decor often mentioned in reviews as a major highlight. Several customers recommend booking ahead, as the place is often very busy and a bit cramped or noisy. A few reviews also mention high prices and, occasionally, uneven service or wait times.

Service was great. Server was friendly and helpful. Ordered the following; - crepes which were very good - french toast with apple butter and maple syrup which was good and is more of a dessert - house poutine for $18 was not good. Rubbery cheese curds, salty gravy and small portion. Overall, a decent restaurant, with good service.
This place is so good we came both days that we were in town. Service is friendly, the decor is so much fun, and the breakfast poutine and apple French toast are incredible!
amazing food and service... excellent experience!!!
Amazing food and amazing servers. Got to practice our French in a comfortable environment.
There are several things that stand out. First the competence and friendliness of the staff. People knew what they were doing, and had a sense of humor as they did it. Second, the food was well prepared and delicious. And interesting. There are no “fancy or intimidating” foods on the menu. I would call it Canadian “slightly upscale” home cooking. The “Poor Man’s” dessert was outstanding, as was the “Shepherd’s Pie”.
I had the ribs and fries and it was great, fall off the bone.My spouse’s meal was not exactly what he was expecting, but he enjoyed it. We had eaten a lot of beef in the days before and perhaps we were just tired of it? The portions were huge!
Very average food! Probably even the worse putting we have ever tried
This was our first time to eat at La Buche. Our friends that live near Quebec City recommended this restaurant when we asked them where we could eat traditional French Canadian cuisine….right away they said…”La Buche”. The food was great. The drinks were very good. The desert was delicious. The service was friendly. Overall we had a great dining experience.
Best restaurant in Old Quebec City for our taste Food delicious. Staff awesome. We were the last week. Had breakfast there three times
A very lively and enjoyable experience. The food was good and came in good portions. But it was the staff and atmosphere that made it a great experience.
Food was rather disappointing. Maybe we ordered the wrong dish. There was plenty of it with different kinds of pork but it all tasted much the same and was overly sweet. The service though was very attentive.
Great food and ambiance. We were a party of 12 and got our own private room. Don't miss it when your in Quebec City!
La bûche is a great place to eat. I got an omelette and it was delicious. Their bacon and ham is smoked with maple syrup and it makes it so much better. The service is amazing and the staff are extremely friendly.
This place was the best food I have had in a while The best Putin you’ll ever have and the hot chocolate is amazing. Me and my friends had an amazing time in the atmosphere was amazing.
Came for brunch, stayed full for half the day! Ordered the fat guy omelette and the sugar shack plate. The highlight of both dishes was the ham/bacon/sausage - so flavourful and not too salty. The sugar syrup on the crepe was quite addicting and hard not to eat it all first. The apple sauce/spread that came with the omelette was a surprising touch and paired well with the soft thick cut toast. I’m really happy we stopped here for brunch!
The $20 overhyped poutine was the size of the A&w poutine. The cheese was not squeaky at all which is what I was expecting, and by the time the server brought it out it was a good 10 minutes old
Cozy pub type restaurant with an interesting menu in the heart of Old Quebec. Staff were very friendly and food was good.
One of our favorite places to eat in Quebec City.
Excellent cuisine. Wonderful experience. Liked the food, the atmosphere, and the service.
Nice restaurant in the heart of old Quebec with a sugar shack atmosphere and local cuisine. Great service for a busy place.
What a fun experience! You can try any or all the local dishes - highly recommend the Poor Man’s Pudding for dessert. It was huge and delish. You must share this one! Service was fast and friendly. Highly recommend reservations, as folks were lined up in the street.
Delicious meat pie! Chicken and waffles also very good
La Buche was a fantastic breakfast spot in Old Quebec. Even though the restaurant was very busy, they were able to seat us immediately, which was a great start to our morning. We enjoyed delicious crepes topped with maple syrup and blueberries, along with thick-cut real bacon coated in maple syrup and freshly made pork rinds with maple syrup. Everything was excellent, full of flavor, and a perfect way to experience some classic Quebec specialties. The service was also very good—friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout our visit. We had a wonderful breakfast and would definitely recommend La Buche to anyone visiting Old Quebec.
Perfect brunch spot. It’s very unique, no other place like it. Service was fast and the food came out quick.
