I came here with my best friend to celebrate her upcoming wedding this Saturday, and when making the reservation, we specifically noted that we were celebrating a special occasion. Unfortunately, the celebration was never acknowledged, though that ended up being the least of the issues we experienced during our visit. We were served by Olivier, and while everyone can have an off night, my friend and I both agreed this was the worst service we have ever received. Having both worked as servers in fast-paced environments ourselves, we understand that busy nights happen and mistakes can occur. However, considering the price we paid for our meal, the overall experience was unacceptable. * After being seated, it took approximately 15 minutes before anyone came to our table to greet us or take our drink order. * Our food took an extremely long time to arrive, and when it finally did, two out of the three dishes were incorrect. When we explained that we hadn’t ordered two of the dishes placed in front of us, our server responded with, “Are you sure?” rather than acknowledging the mistake. * Since we didn’t want the one correct dish to get cold, we began eating it while waiting for the rest of our order. Near the end of the meal, our server returned and said, “The scallops and that other thing you ordered will arrive soon,” which made it clear he still hadn’t properly acknowledged or remembered our order, even after the earlier mix-up. * At no point did he check in to ask how the food was or whether we needed anything. In fact, after dropping off the dishes, we barely saw him again until it was time for the bill — which itself took around 30 minutes to arrive while we sat with empty plates. * When we asked to speak with a manager, Olivier told us he was the one in charge. However, earlier in the evening, when my friend asked if she could switch her margarita because it was too spicy, he said he needed to check with the bartender first. That response now feels questionable if he was truly the acting manager. We are staying at the hotel for two nights and had originally planned to dine at this restaurant again tomorrow evening. However, based on this experience, we will absolutely be avoiding returning. What was supposed to be a special and memorable celebration before my friend’s wedding turned into one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had. This was especially disappointing because we visited about three years ago and left with such fond memories of both the food and the service. Sadly it’s not the same place it once was.
What guests say about KaTO
KaTO has a very good overall reputation, with many customers highlighting the freshness and quality of the sushi, the pleasant atmosphere, and well-liked cocktails. The service is often described as warm, attentive, and exceptional, but a few reviews also mention significant delays and order mistakes, especially on busier evenings. Value for money seems mixed: many find the experience worthwhile, while others feel some dishes are ordinary or too expensive for what is served.

What a great authentic dining experience this is. Amazing servers, great atmosphere and food is delicious. Felt so well taken care of.
I had dinner here recently, and while the food was generally okay for the price point, the overall experience left something to be desired. It's not completely overpriced, but the value for money is definitely on the lower side. The dishes were decent but completely middle-of-the-road—nothing stood out as exceptional, but nothing was terrible either. The food: Crispy Tuna: The highlight of the meal. It was very spicy, flavorful, and had a fantastic kick to it. Highly recommend if you like a bit of heat. Grilled Skirt Steak: We ordered it medium-rare and it was cooked perfectly to temp. However, the quality of the meat itself was just average—exactly what you’d expect for the price, but nothing to write home about. Chef’s Sashimi: A bit disappointing. It features very basic, standard cuts of fish. It was fresh enough, but lacked the premium selection you would expect from a "Chef's Selection" designation at this price. Assorted Mochi Ice Cream: A total pass. It tasted exactly like the generic boxed mochi you can buy at any local grocery store. Charging $12 for this is a huge markup for a very underwhelming dessert. The Service: Our server, Kevin, was very enthusiastic and polite on the surface, constantly checking in to ask "how everything was." However, his service was strictly verbal. Our water glasses sat completely empty the entire night; he didn't refill them even once. At one point, I intentionally moved my empty glass to the dead center of the table when he was serving a dish to drop a hint, but it went completely unnoticed. Furthermore, after our mains, food crumbs were left scattered across the table with no attempt to clean or wipe down the surface before moving on. Summary: It’s a very average, safe fusion restaurant. The food is acceptable, but the service lacks genuine attentiveness and training. It’s the kind of place that is fine if someone else is picking up the tab, but I likely won't return on my own dime.
If you want to bring fun into your life and eat great Japanese fusion food … eat here.
We ate here twice during our stay. The first night was great, food was amazing, service was excellent. The second night not so much...they were sold out of the dish we went back for, by 7 pm ( Duck Bao buns...amazing!) The drinks arrived after our main course, 2/3 guest had their main course more than 10 minutes before the other, the server had to be reminded about the drinks and the late main, instead of apologizing, or rectifying the situation, just said " they are working on it"
Incredible food and outstanding service
Duck bao bun was fire!
They have a good selection of "fresh off the sushi bar" and hot plates. You have to try the crispy brussel sprouts - we shared but shouldn't have! The sushi selection is good, nothing crazy, yet very fresh. Good selection of beers, wines and cocktail and they also have a good variety of non alcoholic beverages.
Went for a friend's birthday, had a lovely time. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating. Tried the pork bao buns but would come back to try their korean style udon.
Jade was our server and highly recommend her as well. She took care of all my allergies and made sure my food was safe to eat. She was very sweet and kind to my girlfriend and I when we had trouble with our food but regardless she handled it very well. Made our Kōena stay a lot better. Thank you Jade!! 5 stars for you!
Food was greatttttt, place was great, vibes are great! I had the wagyu mini burgers, veggie fried rice and maki rolls with mocktails. Everything was exceptionally flavourful! Would come back any day!
The food was good but something happened that turned in we never going back again. They brought us 2 soups without any advertising and we thought would be to compensate for the long waiting time to order! At the end they changed us because they brought the soup to the wrong table.
Wow what a beautiful gem, we went to the Koena spa and tried this place for lunch, it was so good we went back for diner and every single dish was superb 👌
Love this place.
Every food item ( shrimp sushi, angry chicken, tofu soup) like heaven, especially the oyesters and not to forget the Caribbean mocktail too. It was my first time at Japanese cuisine, and it was amazing experience.
That was wow. Every single dish. The duck sandwich is Michelin-star level.
Guillaume was exceptional. I know it sounds minor, but the moment our water was empty, he replaced it almost instantly. He was attentive without being intrusive, handled our modifications with ease, and checked in at the right moments to make sure everything was perfect. The food was very good, but honestly, the service was the highlight of the experience. It wasn’t busy at all, which surprised me. Especially considering Koena is always packed. This place deserves way more attention. It’s seriously underrated.
The food is very nicely made!
I want to start with the positives. We chose Kato for our Valentine’s Day dinner and the food was amazing. Well tasting, and for the most part great with no major concerns. However there was a big problem with the service. The waiter was difficult to locate at times and forgot about one of the things we ordered (we still asked for it towards the end). We asked for cutlery and he forgot to get us our cutlery so we sat there watching our food get colder whilst we wondered what was happening. In the end another waitress was flagged down and helped us with that (thank you). Our table was wobbly (just unfortunate but not a big deal) and we were sat by the fireplace which was so hot, we had to leave because we couldn’t stand how hot it was. Like I said, probably just a bad night and people were overwhelmed but we just hope to see the service get a bit of a boost, there were plenty of staff, it just needed to get more organized and not forget about customer orders.
Service was great. Diana was fantastic. Very attentive and engaged. Wagyu sliders were amazing as were the spicy edename. Sushi was ok. Presentation definitely lacking and a little amateurish. Expected better for the price.
My husband and i had a wonderful evening. Beautiful place, Delicious food , Great service by Loïc! Our first time and not our last. I greatly recommend this restaurant.
Went today for lunch (2nd time) and it was great. Service and food were excellent. Had sushi, chicken app,a few salads, and Brussel sprouts. Service was really good. Food came out fast and fresh. Went after spa day. I found the prices quite reasonable for the quality.
Had a lovely meal while we stayed in the hotel.. our server Luct, was excellent and we ordered the things he suggested and we were able to share every dish including appetizers.. nice atmosphere
Let me start by saying the service we received was subpar. Our server was Olivier. He was extremely unengaged and disingenuous. The food was awful. I only enjoyed my margaritas. Not worth the $243 I spent here. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant at all, and do not plan to come back.
Sushi was excellent! lots of variety of cocktails and mocktails and service was very attentive and warm!
