Fast delivery: closure, stars and shepherd's pie

On the menu today, we would like to tell you about a sad closure in the Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve district of Montreal, the stars of the Forbes Travel Guide and shepherd's pie for a good cause in Granby.

First, the Antidote Bouffe Végane restaurant closed its doors for good in February, after eight years of existence. Owner Élise Bellerose made this decision for personal reasons, in particular to take the time to grieve after deaths in her family and those around her, and for her mental health.

Antidote Bouffe Végane has succeeded in making vegan food accessible and in demand and has won the hearts of Montrealers in the neighborhood with its tasty recipes, its evening shows and its succulent gins. The clientele was local and diverse, not just vegans.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a negative impact on the restaurant, creating uncertainty and anxiety for employees and the owner. Now on the schedule, Élise Bellerose and her husband are planning trips and rest before embarking on new adventures. Élise's recipes will be available on her newly created YouTube channel.

Next, the Forbes Travel Guide announced its 65th annual list of Star Awards winners, featuring the world's most notable restaurants, hotels and spas. This year, twelve Quebec luxury establishments were recognized for their excellence. The Four Seasons Hotel Montreal and its Guerlain Spa earned the highest rating of five stars, while two other hotels received four stars. Quebec restaurants were also awarded four stars: Toqué!, Maison Boulud and Chez Muffy.

To establish the ranking, Forbes uses up to 900 criteria, mainly focused on customer experience and service. A total of 1,956 tourist establishments have been awarded worldwide.

Finally, twenty restaurants in the Granby region came together to offer their unique version of the classic Quebec dish, shepherd's pie, in support of the third annual edition of the Fondation du Granby Hospital Center. Attendees can choose from a variety of flavors including Hungarian, Italian, Polish, Quebec, Black Pudding, Duck, Moose, Bison, Scallop, Shrimp, Salmon, and Lentil. Several meal packages are available, each including beer, wine, and various sides and desserts from local businesses. Orders must be placed before March 24 and pick-up will take place at La Grillade sugar shack on March 29.
