After trying many ramen restaurant in the city, I can say this is hands down the best ramen in Montreal, like ridiculously good. The tonkotsu is my personal favorite, but they’re honestly all so incredible. It’s definitely a MUST in Mtl.
Reviews / Ratings for Yokato Yokabai Ramen
Not a fan of their chicken and pork ramen.
Tried veggie broth, add more shiitake mushrooms. Enough portion, fresh and delicious ingredients, and reasonable price. Seats are not comfortable for long stays, but to have your friends, fancy or casual, small chat and have great meals, it’s a fantastic place in a beautiful area. Have reservations if possible.
Best ramen noodles, and the place is always packed.
everything was good here, I'd say they have the best ramen in town.
Thank you!
You can enjoy authentic and simple tonkotsu ramen. It has a very rich taste and a taste that makes you feel Japan. The amount is not large, so it is small for men, but it is just the right amount for women. And for the Japanese, you'll scream, because $30 for a bowl of ramen (including tips) is crazy. This is because in Japan, you can eat ramen with this taste for $7 or $9 I wouldn't recommend it to Japanese tourists, but I would recommend it to people from other countries.
They changed the pork, where before it was baked then torched to perfection, karaage was improved upon with the addition of a vinager garlic scallion sauce, and soup extra thick.
AMAZING RAMEN. Really cool atmosphere. Nice and small and inviting. Quality of Food and service were great and wasnt a long wait for a group of 2 (about 30 minutes) Would definitely go back and highly recommend.
I live far from this restaurent, but when I do go downtown, I always go there at least twice a year with friends and family since 2021. Tonight I've been very disapointed with the ending of my night, the waitress asked how was the service and the food and it was great as usual, she started to get upset and bash towards me and my friend, because we did not leave a tip. The other customers started to look at all of us like we were bad people. Tip is optional not forced. I would like if you could contact me or send me your detail information so I can talk more about it, I've never been so uncomfortable. The 1 star review was not because of the bad food, but the end experience.
Fantastic food, fantastic service and great people serving you. Bathrooms were clean and it wasnt too loud in there (despite the cooks doing everything right in front of you). You can tell they know exactly what theyre doing and is clear thereis no unhealthy tampering with the food. My only complaint is that the resto area is too small so they can only accept a fine amount of eaters. I suggest going there before 4 if it’s a weekday and before 1 if its a weekend (or guarantee yourself waiting on the stairs OR outside if its too full. All in all, howevr, it was a great experience!
Was an excellent meal.
I didn't like ramen until I tried it here. It was so delicious.
We had pork and sesame broth thick noodles Ramen. Chicken and pork. Sesame broth was too heavy for me. The soup was colder than expected. Spicy chicken entree was good. Rice with pork entree was tasty. The place was packed on Sunday at 2. We waited for 20 minutes for a table. 4 stars overall.
Came down from ottawa for this ramen and it did not disappoint, 1hour wait but again WORTH IT !!!
Ramen was good but nothing to write home about
My time trying authentic ramen and it wont be my last. Amazing experience , wonderful food and lovely people. I tried their Ramen, takoyaki and green tea. I only have good things to say about the place. Try it yourself.
Excellent ramen! Fresh and delicious! Very long wait so plan ahead!
We were really looking forward to trying this restaurant, but our experience left a very bad impression. There was a 55-minute wait, and we added our name to the list like everyone else. Dozens of French-speaking customers were allowed to wait inside the entrance. However, when my husband and I (English-speaking) were waiting in the entrance, the host told us we had to wait outside. We witnessed another English-speaking group get told the same thing. While waiting outside, we watched a French-speaking couple arrive after us, put their name on the list, wait inside, and then be seated before us. It was very uncomfortable and felt like open discrimination based on language. Montreal is a beautiful city and we’ve had wonderful experiences everywhere else, but this was extremely disappointing.
Saturday 10 jan 13h. I don't believe this place should be a Michelin Recommended restaurant. There was no service at the entrance except a small ipad where you need to put your name and number to be on the waiting list. The guy that worked there ignored us and pass by us a few times but it was so clear that we were waiting to talk to someone. He simply pointed to the ipad and left. We finally got a SMS and went back where the same guy with the cap just never event looked at us so we needed to stop him and tell him we got an SMS. Cold and without any welcoming effort he sat us at the bar and left. Next the girl behind the bar never welcomed us and passed in front of us without looking. Water came 5 min after and asked us if we were ready to order. No welcome, not a smile, cold and without care. We asked for sake and she didn't know much. So I asked for the sake menu and she gave it to me but warned us that there was nothing in stock exacept 2 or 3 little bottles of 300ml. Appetizer were below average. Karage Spicy was not spicy and WAY to much batter and the takoyaki was a puree of mush with seemed with no octupus. Ramen took forever to come but once it arrived they were good but I had better in other restaurants. Extra : I was in front of the beer tap and the glasses were not clean. I saw a waiter look at the glasses and noticed there were not clean but he served beer in them anyway. That why I don't believe this place should be a Michelin Recommended Restaurant. You should feel welcomed in a restaurant and today it felt like we where a number and couldn't wait for the customers to leave so they could serve the next ones.
Best Ramen in Montreal
We waited about 45 minutes and their system said 0-15 minute wait time. It was well worth the wait as it had to have been the best bowl of ramen I’ve had in Montreal.
The broth and noodles really taste unique. Great ambiance too.
This is my favourite place for ramen in Montreal. The gomami broth is amazing. The only downside to this place is the extremely long wait since they don’t take any reservations. We waited about 1 hour 40 min for it but it was worth it at the end
Adam truly made our experience at Yokato Yokabai Ramen! From the moment we arrived, he was kind, respectful, and genuinely welcoming. The type of service that immediately makes you feel comfortable and taken care of. If it weren’t for Adam, the experience honestly wouldn’t have been the same, and he is the main reason we’re even taking the time to write this review. The food was excellent! We ordered two bowls of chicken ramen, edamame, Diet Cokes, and sake, and everything was delicious. Emmanuel was helpful as well, though his energy felt a bit more reserved and not as welcoming, which was slightly disappointing given how respectful we always are as guests. That said, Adam absolutely deserves recognition from management for his professionalism, warmth, and attitude. He represents the restaurant extremely well! We’ll definitely remember the service he provided.
