The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and very classy, with soft French music that sets the perfect mood. The view over the Old Port streets is stunning, and I loved where we were seated. I kept taking pictures because everything looked so charming. The décor is cute, cozy, and full of character. The waiter was warm and welcoming, which made us feel completely at ease. Service was quick, and I really appreciated the little details, like how the butter was shaped ( it looked like a flower) to pair with the bread. I just wish we had been given a bit more bread. We ordered the table d’hôte at 49$, and for the price, the quality was impressive. For the entrée, we had the shrimp salad with crustinis—delicious and fresh. The main course was shrimp with rice and vegetables, and again, everything was very tasty. The shrimp especially were so flavorful. But the star of the night was the dessert. The crème brûlée was huge and unbelievably good. It was my first time trying it, and honestly, I’m still thinking about it. The portions could have been just a tiny bit bigger, but overall, the experience was excellent. I would highly recommend this place. Also, the décor deserves another mention. I went upstairs to the bathroom and was blown away—the chandelier, the ambiance, even the bathroom itself was clean and beautifully designed. A wonderful experience from start to finish.

Do yourself a favour and don’t run into the same problem!! My fiancée and I had the worst and most disgusting experience during our visit. We visited this house of horror as the first stop of our trip to Montreal, this with the hope of having a pleasant lunch. We found the restaurant very nice and well located, our waitress was nice. The experience was going good at the beginning until food arrived to the table. My fiancée ordered steak and shrimp and I requested steak and lobster which came to say least, FILTHY, kitchen staff didn’t cleaned the gut out of it. I requested the server for it to be replaced, and it was my surprise when they brought it back to the table LYING this was roe, and PRETENDED THAT I SHOULD HAVE IT BACK AND EAT IT LIKE THAT!. I explained that this was not the first time I had it, I even cook it every now and then, this was the guts from the animal, which concentrates a high dose of toxins and can even cause paralytic selfish poisoning, and added that it was absolutely improper to lie a customer. She went back to the kitchen and came back with someone else, which I suppose it was some kind of supervisor, I explained him the situation and once again this person lied to me in the face and tried to convince me to take the contaminated food, when I said -NO- they took it back clearly showing a terrible attitude and they brought back just the meat, no lobster, they didn’t even offer to replace it. If this was not enough, they just served the same already cold steak in an another plate. By this moment I was mad about the situation, I didn’t took a bite from my food I requested the bill, As an extra surprise they wanted to charge me for the lobster I never had, of course I asked for this to be removed, payed for my drink and my partner’s food and left the place after being lied, almost scammed in the bill charging me the contaminated food and ruined our whole meal. Everything because they were completely dishonest and proud, when they could just have said -sorry we had a little issue, let me replace it- Totally unprofessional not to mention UNSANITARY!!!! SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!

This elegant restaurant is perfect for families and the quality of the food and level of service are higher than one might otherwise expect in such a touristic area. Our waiter, Jo, is trilingual and was very patient and professional with our large group. I recommend this place and we thoroughly enjoyed the elegant atmosphere.

I used to rate this stakehouse with 5vstars, and it was our traditional destination for the New Year's Eve. This year, something changed: - having booked for 10 people months in advance, we were surprised upon being seated, that the table couldn't accommodate us and we had squeeze chairs together as the restaurant did not provide an extension: they were overbooked! - then the food, usually an amazing experience, we were served old dishes (stake, and others), and had to send them back for warmer ones. The result was warmer dishes but food that felt stale - Then the service, while our specific attendant went out of his way to address our needs, combined with management decision to squeeze tables, probably to maximize revenue, at the cost of what was a great experience, was very disappointing, and I did not tell of where our table was located, next to an air exhaust system that kept sending cold air in our face! A location where there should not have been a table. I did not give one star, though the experience warranted it, in the hopes that it was a one-off. Remains to be verified.

한국인들을 위한 리뷰: 절대 가지마세요 ^_^. It was for celebrating my birthday with my boyfriend. Sirloin steak that I got was tough and dry even though I ordered it as rare. I couldn’t even bit as it’s tough. I asked server to change it and while I was waiting for it, manager told me that the steak was perfect on their standard. He was not even standing beside our table, he was talking to me behind my boyfriend staring me. He said it’s perfectly cooked even though there was no juice coming out when I was having hard time to cut the steak. Server was kind but manager who handled this issue was very rude and not professional at all. No apology at all. Anyways I got a new plate with a new steak. Steak was okay, but new cutlery they gave me was dirty. wine glasses were not polished. I also had a carrot garnish that is randomly cut in half, with a piece of carrot skin. This place is not worth it at all.

We came for late night drinks on Sunday (post 9pm happy hour) and was very nice. They have classics like martinis and old fashions. The watermelon margarita is very good. The bartender was very nice, we will be back!

Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience. We clearly ordered four bone-in rib steaks, but only three were brought, and the fourth steak was incorrect. We immediately informed the server, and although they agreed to change it, the replacement took so long that I couldn’t eat dinner with my family. What made the experience worse was at checkout: I wanted to leave a $20 tip, but the server insisted that taxes had to be included and automatically applied a 15% tip, which felt unfair—especially considering the mistake and the long wait. For a restaurant of this reputation and price level, the service was far below expectations. Very disappointing. Update: Following the owner’s response, I contacted the restaurant by email as requested to seek a fair resolution. Unfortunately, I have not received any response so far.

(Update: It has now been a month since the incident. The restaurant contacted the guests who were there that day, but there has been no response so far. They told me that a lost item is simply considered lost, and that they cannot take responsibility for my coat. So please keep in mind that if you lose your outerwear here, they will not take any responsibility. Make sure to wear a coat that you wouldn’t mind losing. I could understand this kind of response from a very casual, inexpensive neighborhood restaurant. However, considering that this place charges around $40–$100 per person and presents itself as a more refined dining establishment, I found their response quite disappointing. I don’t think I’ll be coming back again.) I came here for a company dinner, and it took 1 hour and 30 minutes for the food to be served, with my order also being incorrect. I tried to be understanding at first, as mistakes can happen, but what followed was disappointing. I hung my coat on the designated coat rack for our group, but another customer apparently took it and left with it. It was the day of a snowstorm, and I am pregnant, yet I had to return home without my winter coat. I had expected at least a sincere apology, but the staff repeatedly said it was not their responsibility and advised me to “wait and see.” I would caution others to be careful with leaving valuables in the coat area, as I did not feel my belongings were handled responsibly. (edit to reply : Thank you for your response and for taking the time to address my review. I would like to respectfully clarify a few points. I did not receive any compensation, follow-up, or proactive contact from your restaurant. I only received information after I personally reached out several times. While the coat was not a luxury item, its value was over $500. What was most difficult for me was not only the loss itself, but also how the situation was handled at the time and afterward. On a day of severe weather, I had to return home without my winter coat, and I felt there was very limited support or reassurance provided. I placed my coat exactly where I was instructed, yet no one took responsibility. I called three times seeking assistance before deciding to leave this review, but your response remained “wait and see,” as you only contacted the other group and provided no clear timeline for resolution. I appreciate your apology and your intention to review your procedures. My review reflects my personal experience and the impact this situation had on me.

Jimmy was our waiter and provided excellent service through out the night, he was always present and prepared to accommodate our needs. If you are looking to enjoy a flavorful and tender steak or endulge in some savory sea food appetizers I couldn't recommend a better place then Vieux-Port Steakhouse.

Food was pretty good, albeit, not better than The Keg. Service was passable. Waiters weren't very friendly, but weren't flat-out rude. The atmosphere is a strange mix of elegant with tacky elements mixed in - like paintings of cows on the walls? Prices were in line with any other steakhouse. Overall, it was a decent experience, but there's no reason to go here over somewhere like The Keg.
