The place lived up to its reputation. Food was great and no-nonsense. Service was lightning fast. Loved the fries so much. Vibe was very lived in and nostalgic.

A piece of history! Great location, it seems to take the Time Machine!
Charging you for the pickle???
Went at noon on a Wednesday. There was plenty of seating available. I ordered the poutine with Montreal smoked meat on top, with a side of pickles and cherry coca cola. Came up to around $25. Great experience and appreciateted the friendly service.
Words cannot describe how amazing this place is, the longevity of it speaks for itself. If you find yourself in Montreal you better make sure you find Schwartz's Deli.
I'd heard so much about this place, so my expectations were really high. It didn’t quite match what I'd imagined, but everything we tried was still really good. 😊 We had the famous smoked meat sandwich, smoked meat poutine, and also the classic poutine. The meat was flavorful and generous, and all the dishes were satisfying in their own way. What stood out the most was the staff. They were very attentive, which made the experience feel warm and welcoming.
Crazy little place. Sit as you can. Service is quick and simple. The Smoked Meat was great.
A staple in Montréal. You need to go.
What can I say? The sandwiches are legendary for a reason. No hype here at all... Just one of the best sandwiches I tried in Montreal!
Delicious smoked meat and service with a smile what more do you need.
So overhyped, poutine was pretty good nothing crazy and I’ve had the smoked meat sandwich before
🎶
I mean do I really have to put a review? Literally the best ever. Everyone knows it. Absolutely no competition. If you go to Montreal and you don't eat here that's really sad. Get the pickle.
Worth the hype.
Delicious!! Place to be!
Go elsewhere for a classic Montreal smoked meat sandwich. No need to visit this place, a tourist trap all through and through. First of all the meat was dry, very fatty and tasteless. The pickle which was really soggy doesn’t even come included with the sandwich (crucial mistake, smoked meat sandwiches need a pickle). The service was quite bland, employees on their phone and unwelcoming. The price for two small sandwiches and a small fry came out to 45$ which is insane for how small the sandwich was. Id recommend 5 other places in MTL for smoked meat before Shwartz.
It was absolutely amazing!!
I did not see this one coming ! Visiting this place was not really my top priority I just wanna try because so many people recommend this to try out. I am soooo happy I made the right decision to try. Upto now I am still dreaming about this smoky meat flavor. I got the poutine and it was phenomenal! Truly this is the Montreal’s a must try !
Iconic place for smoke meat in Montreal. Can get very busy with queue outside so best to get there early to avoid long wait.
This place is grubby. The staff was super rude after waiting 20 min in the cold. They packed us in cheek to jowl with strangers at the same table. Save your pastrami fix for another trip and go to a deli on 2nd Ave in NYC instead. I’m sure Schwartz’s is historically significant. Maybe get their takeout. Or, go to a nice French restaurant while in Montreal or better, a Portuguese place in the same neighborhood.
I love Schwartz’s I make sure to go every time I’m in Montreal! Simple, delicious, having grown up going to kosher delis in new York, it always feels like home. Smoked meat is slightly different than pastrami and must be properly investigated. Smoked meat sandwich, pickles on the side, well-done fries, an a black cherry soda is a classic order for your visit! Liver steak is great too!
Great old school dinner. The food was phenomenal and the service was good, would highly suggest. After talking to locals prior to arriving they suggest the go to meal is the smoked meat sandwich medium fat, with fries, a pickle and a cherry cola
The place felt cozy and the staff were polite.
Best smoked meat sandwich I have ever tasted 😋 Awesome 👌 👏 👍
