Delicious food and good ambiance in the downtown location. I really enjoyed the smoke meat sandwich, Montréal classic. The service was outstanding in French and English, the staff was very cordial and warming. I enjoyed my time there. If you are downtown Montréal, do not hesitate to stop by. I really recommend this place. Cannot wait to go again soon.

We are a family of four from Portugal, and we came to Reubens with high expectations, having heard it was one of the best restaurant in town. After an hour and a half of walking in the heat and all this construction, we arrived, but it was unbearably hot inside. The staff was drenched in sweat it was disturbing, we couldn’t even breathe. My mother, especially, was so upset. I asked about the AC, and the server said it was broken, with no effort to address it. We paid for our drinks, left immediately, and did not leave a tip. This was a completely unacceptable experience, and we will never return.

On May22 we were a group of eight to celebrate my daughter’s graduation. Sadly, the experience was ruined by extreme heat inside—while it was 27 degrees outside, inside it felt like a SAUNA. We asked the server to turn up the AC, but she said it wasn’t working, and there was nothing she could do. This became a serious health concern—my 92-year-old grandmother felt faint, and several others were struggling. As paying customers, we expected a safe, comfortable environment. I strongly advise that the restaurant inform guests at the door if the AC is not working—so that we have the option to stay or go. This is not acceptable for a well-known restaurant, especially on such a hot day. I give food three stars—not because it wasn’t tasty, but because we couldn’t enjoy it. The service 1 star…not the server’s fault, but this is a vital issue. I hope the owners take action so no one else suffers this way in the future.

Reuben’s is always good. It has been on my Montreal list for years, and it’s great! I like having a classic Reuben and finishing with the cheesecake.

After some serious shopping downtown, we stopped by Reuben's Deli & Steak on St. Catherine's (not too be confused with the other Reuben's on St. Catherine's a few blocks away. This one actually has a steakhouse vibe to it with the decor. We ordered the Rated PG ($14) with passion fruit purée, lime, and rooibos tea as well as the Nojito ($14) with strawberry, lime, 7up, and mint. For our meals, we had the Reuben's Chop-Chop Poutine ($22) and The Mediterranean Salad ($29) with chicken. Both dishes were quite large and we didn't finish. The poutine was in a large bowl and perfectly crispy fries. There wasn't a huge amount of gravy and most of it fell to the bottom of the bowl, but this kept the fries crisp instead of soggy. I did like the chopped up meats in the dish and it worked well if you mixed up the bowl to get the gravy on the bottom. If you like a super wet poutine, this isn't it. Service was pretty good, friendly server. It was too bad they were still doing the construction on St. Catherine's out in front of the building. Wish we had enough room to try their cheesecakes.

Had an incredible steak here. Perfectly medium rare Big Jim edge to edge. Definitely coming back! Shout out to the bartender Wayne for the reccomendation he was fantastic and so incredibly nice. Every place needs a legend like him!

We came in for a late lunch. I could not even breathe it was so hot. They said their AC was broken but another table told me that it's always hot there. Apparently they just don't bother with air conditioning even when it's 30° out?? No terrace window no ventilation. Terrible. It's a reflection how how much the owners care. Terrible Way to show appreciation for your own business! I feel bad for the staff they were literally sweating!

Don't let the glitzy ambiance fool you - this was solid deli-style fare! We each enjoyed a different entree of smoked beef (e.g. mac and cheese with smoked beef) and enjoyed every bite. Service was fantastic - timely and friendly. Also nice to have a full bar along with a deli dinner. Plenty of great looking dessert options that we didn't have room to try. Great stop!

I’m a regular here and I always order the same item, tonight it was completely different, before even pointing it out the waiter noticed and went to bring someone else, instead of apologizing, her first question was “talk to me”, and ofcourse I left hungry. I guess staff during the week is not as professional as the weekends’. Keep that in mind!

Rueben’s is a culinary icon in downtown Montreal where we have visited many times with complete satisfaction. Their smoked meat most especially their Rueben sandwiches are an awesome delight. The restaurant is always clean and well presented with friendly and efficient staff. They have a huge selection of the best desserts like their famous carrot cake, cheese cakes and chocolate cakes with huge portions. This place is a super deli that offers a wide range of meal options at reasonable prices. It is a must stop and visit while visiting Montreal - great comfort food!

Reubens IS THE PLATINUM standard for Food and Hospitality. Today, Wifey and I indulged on the amazing super delicious montreal smoked meat big bang, perfectly constructed smoked meat poutine and luscious strawberry cheesecake. Our entire fresh meal was made in-house. The service from Sam our Server and Bartender-Extraordinaire warmed our hearts. Sam's charm is matched by his highly skilled mixology. The Habs-inspired, exquisite Habarita tequila cocktail scored big time (Wife's new fave). Every meal at Reubens is the #1 highlight of our annual visit to Montreal. Once again, our bellies are full and our taste buds in bliss. Sorry: I forgot to take a Pic of the scrumptious, velvety smooth cheesecake. We devoured this slice of heaven and a photo was an after thought.

Truly a pleasurable experience. A must try when in Montreal. Smoked meat piled high, delicious mustard, pickles and a unique take on poutine grazy struck all the right taste buds. 50 years of business for a reason.. outstanding!!

Tried 'The Charlie'، meat, fries, and coleslaw were superb! Lager and condiments were average. The pickle was delicious but tiny (only a quarter). Overall, a solid 5-star experience. Will return to try more and update!
