Great service and presentation, but the atmosphere felt boring — like a cafeteria with no real design or decor. The food was also very bland. We were looking for authentic Korean food and were supposed to go to Dawa, but they were closed. Dawa has the best Korean chicken resto in my opinion, not just because of the chicken but also the amazing side dishes and overall experience. So we tried Mukja for the first time, and unfortunately it will also be the last. It feels like they adopted an Americanized version of Korean food that is flavorless and soulless. It was a very disappointing experience and honestly felt like the complete opposite of the resto next door. Mukja has decent menu options, but the food is really bad if you’re looking for authentic Korean flavors. I’ve been to many Korean restos in Montreal like Sam Cha, Matjip, Jako, and even Mon Ami, and they range from good to great. Mukja is by far the worst Korean resto experience I’ve had. We didn’t even finish half of our food and still paid around $50. I’m sorry for the bad review, but I genuinely don’t recommend this place unless they make dramatic changes to their food.
What guests say about Restaurant Mukja
Restaurant Mukja seems to be appreciated for its generous portions, flavorful Korean dishes, and service that is often quick and friendly. Several customers like the atmosphere, the small side dishes, and find the value for the amount of food appealing. However, a few reviews mention price increases, a dining room that can sometimes feel small, and less satisfying visits with uneven service or dishes that are too salty, cold, or bland. If you're looking for a hearty Korean option in Montreal, it may be worth checking out, but consistency seems to vary.

Very tasty and huge portions! One of the best Korean restaurants in Montreal
Wonderful place, top-quality food, and a very relaxing ambiance. Every single plate was tasty, and you can tell each ingredient is carefully calculated. Thank you for such a great experience – I will definitely come back!"
great stews
Great portions!! And banchan good too. Doenjan jiggae a little too salty maybe. But overall very nice!
The food is very delicious and very worth the price in terms of quantity. The waiters are very friendly and welcoming.
The food tastes really good and the waiters are really nice!!
The food is very good and the staff is so nice!! 10/10
The place is very clean and has a nice ambiance, the staff is very welcoming and the food is amazing!
Mukja used to be our favorite family-run restaurant, known for serving authentic Korean dishes that are hard to find at other Korean restaurants in Montreal. Sadly, after returning today, we were very disappointed. The menu has changed significantly, but we decided to give it a try anyway—and regretted it. The soybean beef soup was bland, tasting like nothing more than water and soybean paste, with none of the rich flavor you would expect from a proper beef broth. The seafood pancake was even worse. It was badly overcooked, the batter was far too thick, and it looked more like a pizza than a Korean pancake. To make matters worse, the middle of the pancake was burned, and it seemed like it was intentionally hidden under the soy sauce bowl. We only discovered it when we lifted the bowl. When we brought this to the staff’s attention, there was no apology or concern shown. We ended up leaving without finishing our food, yet still paid full price. We were told the chef changed in February 2026, and unfortunately, the quality and authenticity of the food seem to have changed as well. It’s really sad to see what was once our favorite restaurant lose what made it special. Sadly, we will not be coming back :(
The food is good and fairly priced for the quantity. We've been a couple of times and usually end up with leftovers for lunch the next day. The stews specifically the yukgaejang is really solid as is the dak galbi in my opinion.
Very friendly, portions are hugee with side dishes!
A lovely family-owned spot in ndg for comforting Korean food. Everything is served hot, fresh, and full of flavour that gives you that homemade feel. The space is quite small, so it can get pretty busy and hectic at times, but the food makes it worth it! Come early to avoid waiting.
Every time I eat here, I come away more than full and satisfied. Everything I've eaten has been delicious, but my favourite is always the bibimbap, whether I'm eating in or getting delivery. I've always been seated immediately, and the service is always great. I do find the tables and chairs are a little small, so I struggle a bit with leg room, and a long winter jacket slung over the back of your seat is more likely to touch the floor. But everything else is great - and it's a perfect location on a bus route and with nearby parking. Highly recommend!
Best Korean food in Montreal
Kalbitang was so good which made me think about those old days I lived in Korea. Jampong was terible, blank, seafoods were not fresh at all. Fried chicken was soo good . I loved banchans more 🤤 Waters was not so friendly, never smiled when brought out foods to my table.
great food, great atmosphere, great staff good amount of vegetarian food!
what more can you ask for. great spot with great service, prices and portions. will go back for sure.
The food is truly amazing. Everything is delicious and the presentation is very well made. The staff is very friendly and nice. Love going there!
Amazing Korean food in Montreal— by far, the most authentic, tasty and at a reasonable price. You won’t be disappointed!
GOMTANG!!! Whoever preps the gomtang here is the real MVP. Get it, enjoy it, savour it. It is sooooooo good. So glad we have this restaurant in Montreal. The banchans are always good as well and they rotate the selection it seems. Love it. Can’t recommend enough.
One of my favorite restaurants, the people working there are always so friendly and the food is delicious.
Everything was delicious, service very fast and friendly
Delicious and cheap 😋
Amazing food, everything was honestly delicious. It was our 3rd time and we thought everything tasted even better than the first 2 times. The menu concept has changed for the better as you get a soup, sides and a desert with the main dish you order. The service & staff was very helpful & friendly! 10/10
