Listen the portions are insane. I leave stuffed every time and with a takeaway box. You want a quick snack? Grab their fried tofu. Want a nice meal? Spicy Pork with 7-8 sides and a bottle of wine if you're feeling it. Every meal starts with a serving of hot tea and the staff are very friendly.

Absolutely delicious Korean restaurant. Everything we ordered was fresh, tasty, well presented and came quickly. The workers are very friendly, kind and attentive. It’s our second time coming here, but definitely not the last. Everything in the pictures was about 75$ (tax and tip included) and we have leftovers!

We’re returning customers, and this visit really stood out to us. Before the renovations, it was good, but it didn’t fully have a clear concept. After the reno, it really grasps the idea of a traditional Korean meal. It feels more complete. The menu honestly brought me back to when I lived in Korea. The new banchan selection is amazing, and the chef’s special menu feels like something you’d actually get there. The flavors taste authentic and comforting. When we arrived (Feb 18), it felt very busy at first, but it all settled down after. And honestly, a busy restaurant is usually a good sign — it means people know the food is good. Even during the rush, the servers were doing their best to take care of everyone, which we appreciated. Also, parking is super convenient since you can use the Marché Korea lot — it’s huge and only a one-minute walk. One of the best places to introduce someone to a proper Korean meal in Montreal. Definitely coming back.

Is this the downfall of Mukja??? I’ve visited this restaurant several times and have always enjoyed it, but our most recent visit was an absolute disaster. The service was amateur, unprofessional, and completely chaotic, easily the worst we’ve ever experienced anywhere—and it was painful to watch. It took almost 20 minutes before we had to chase someone down to take our order, and people who arrived after us were served first. We had to flag down a waiter just to place an order, as if we were begging for attention. We ordered a full meal with soup, banchans, main dish, and dessert. After 30 more agonizing minutes, we had to specifically ask for our soup because no one even planned to serve it. Throughout the meal, we had to constantly chase our waiter for everything—water, condiments, clearing dishes. Staff walked past tables piled with empty plates as if they didn’t exist. It was humiliating. When dessert finally arrived, it was dropped on top of our dirty dishes because no one had cleared the table (even though when we were asked if we were ready for dessert the waiter walked away with empty hands leaving the dishes there and bringing the dessert instead....so weird) Orders are scribbled on blue sticky notes in total chaos, with zero system, zero coordination, and zero professionalism. Even with a full house, they were still taking delivery orders, leaving staff running around like chickens with their heads cut off, accomplishing nothing. They also looked extremely frazzled and miserable - arguably so. Everyone at this restaurant waiting 45-60 minutes for their food. Everyone kept looking at each other confused at the chaotic setting. Every table seemed frustrated—some nearly left, others were waving their hands like schoolchildren begging for attention. It was beyond embarrassing; it was a masterclass in bad service. There was no structure, no professionalism, and no basic customer care. Not once did a server check if we were okay or needed anything—they were in constant motion but achieving nothing. Suggestions for improvement: Service: Implement a real system. Assign one person to takeout, two people for tables. Take orders immediately, serve soups and banchans first, clear dishes without being asked, and check on guests proactively. This is basic restaurant management, not optional. Décor: Comfortable seating, softer lighting, and some wall decorations would go a long way. The current bare, harsh environment only makes the chaos feel worse. The food may still be good, but no one will remember the food with service this atrocious. As it stands, this place is headed for disaster if changes aren’t made immediately. I love this restaurant and plan to return in a month to see if anything improves—hopefully this review can turn into a positive one. But right now, this experience was painful, humiliating, and completely unacceptable.

Hi Daphne, Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We’re truly sorry for the experience you had — what you described is not acceptable, and we understand how frustrating and uncomfortable that must have felt as a guest. You’re absolutely right that service should never feel chaotic or neglectful. Clear order flow, timely service of soup and banchans, table clearing, and proactive check-ins are basic expectations, and we fell short during your visit. We take your review seriously and are actively reviewing our service structure and floor operations to understand exactly where things broke down and how to prevent this from happening again. Your comments are being shared internally and will be used to make concrete improvements. Mukja is very important to us, and it’s difficult to read feedback like this — but it’s necessary. Thank you for being honest and for caring enough to write it. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back and provide the experience you originally enjoyed. — The Mukja Team

Pretty good korean restaurants. Menu has options that are pretty typical from a korean restaurants, rice dishes, soups, noodles. They are very generous with their side dishes. Highly recommend. Price seems to have increase a bit after their reopening however. Sadly not the most affordable korean restraurant that I’ve tried

We've been apparently sleeping on Korean food! Great find on a night out exploring new places in the area. Everything was so flavorfu and service was prompt (a plus with a toddler). Server was kind, patient and explained the dishes. Highly recommend.

We’re sorry to hear about your experience. Gamjatang should always be served hot, and we apologize that this was not the case during your visit. Thank you for bringing this to our attention — we’re addressing this with our kitchen team right away to prevent it from happening again!

We decided to eat here with my husband because we were craving Korean food, but unfortunately, we didn’t enjoy it. It was overhyped. The soup was good but overly salty. The bibimbap was unappetizing, bland, slightly cold, and the lettuce didn’t complement the dish at all. It was also too greasy for my taste. The service was okay, but it took about 30 minutes for the food to arrive. If you’re looking for authentic Korean food, I’d recommend Soopong on Queen Mary—you won’t go wrong there.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and for visiting us. We’re sorry to hear that your meal didn’t meet your expectations. We appreciate your feedback regarding the seasoning, temperature of the dishes, and the wait time during lunch. Bibimbap and our soups should be served hot and well balanced, and it’s clear we fell short during your visit. A 30-minute wait is also longer than what we aim for, and we understand how that can be frustrating. Your comments have been shared with our kitchen and service team as we continue working on consistency and overall quality. We truly value feedback like this, as it helps us improve. Thank you again for your honest review, and we hope to have the opportunity to serve you better in the future.
