Did a take-out because we wanted to eat at home but when entering the place, I can sincerely say that it is very cozy, pristine and intimate, definitely will dine-in next time. The pizzas are tasty, thin crusts and flavorful (had La Molisana and Speciale), seasoning is spot on. Had also insalata caprese and italiana, the italiana surprised me with some bits of papaya which had never tasted it in this way, worked pretty well with their home dressing, good work 👌 Finally, a cannelloni della nonna, filled with their homemade veal filling which tasted great and light, it does feel homey. All in all, I recommend trying this place if you're looking for an authentic trattoria, you won't be disappointed. 5/5

Restaurant La Molisana If you want real old-school Italian comfort food (the kind that feels homemade, generous, and made with care), La Molisana delivers. This is not a trendy “small plates” place. It’s a classic, warm, sit-down Italian restaurant with a welcoming, family-style vibe where you can actually relax and enjoy your meal. Food quality and portions Everything leans traditional and satisfying. Their homemade pasta is a highlight and tastes fresh, not factory-made. The sauces are rich and well-balanced (tomato-based, creamy, and rosé/vodka-style options), and the portions are generous without feeling sloppy. The menu also has plenty beyond pasta: veal dishes, seafood, and hearty mains that feel like true Italian staples rather than “fusion.” Wood-oven pizza Their pizza is another strong point. You can taste that it’s cooked properly (good crust, not soggy), and it has that authentic, straightforward Italian style. If you’re going with a group, ordering a pizza for the table along with pasta is a great way to do it. What to order (safe picks) • Homemade pasta dishes (great texture and flavor) • Classic pasta favorites like carbonara, bolognese, and rosé/vodka-style pastas • Seafood pasta if you like clams/white wine/garlic style flavors • Veal main dishes if you want something heavier and more traditional • Finish with a classic dessert like tiramisu if it’s available Service and atmosphere Service feels genuinely attentive and professional, in a “regulars” kind of way. The atmosphere is classic and comfortable, ideal for a date, family dinner, or a celebration. It has that old-fashioned charm that’s getting harder to find. Value For what you get (portion size, quality, and full sit-down experience), it’s good value compared to many places that charge more and give you less. This is the type of restaurant you leave feeling satisfied. Bottom line A dependable, old-fashioned Italian restaurant in Montreal with excellent homemade pasta, strong wood-oven pizza, and a classic dine-in experience. If you want comforting Italian food done right, this is an easy recommendation.
